Love that list you posted. Brings back memories indeed.... have a beer with Fear, way too many times.
I've just completed a story about the band and the song Institutionalized.

But your quote absolutely said that I said you guys were wrong about Nirvana making Punk mainstream. Which I never did.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see what you did there. Apologies.

Yep, even the osmond brothers could rock sometimes.

I have Suicidal Tendencies' old PO Box. So if anyone gets ahold of one of their old records, it says in the notes somewhere to send a card to PO Box 388 in Venice if they want fan updates.

So here it is, 30 years later and once every week or two, I get mail addressed to Suicidal Tendencies. (I only took it personally the first time).

No. I listen to a lot of music (although I admit, punk isn't my cup of tea) and I've only heard of about 10 or 15 of those bands too.

The point I was making was that Nirvana brought punk to the masses because they had punk roots. I stumbled across a "Smells Like Teen Spirit" single before Nevermind exploded when I was in grade school (I think I found it in Glendale parking lot). When I heard "Aneurysm" on the B sides I decided I had just heard punk and I wanted more. I went to the library, looked up bands in books and then I found their CDs at the library and checked them out. When I see things Nirvana is apart of like, The Year Punk Broke or their exhibit Nirvana: Bringing Punk to the Masses, I can't help but to think tons of people had a similar experience.

So does it sound punk? Is it REAL punk? Maybe not. Anyone can have an opinion on what real punk is, or real hip hop, etc. And I totally respect that you were more aware of music than I was when all this was actually happening LA. But I think Cobain began playing punk "anyone can be in a band" songs. What made Nirvana is he found a way to make those songs into a catchy radio friendly smash hit album, opening a door for punk.
