It would be more like a $25,000 gain in that example........AFTER the recent panic selloff. It would have been way higher before the recent panic selloff, maybe even as much as close to a $50K gain since the Dow increased by roughy 50%......But that's the point - the gains were so high from 2017 through the beginning of 2020 that people are STILL up even after an unpredented virus panic.
Sorry but 8k a year ain’t s*** is not even enough to pay my mortgage, sorry but I wouldn’t sell my soul to a cult for that much sorry.

Lol you are full of it, I have literally talk to multiple banks about investing and nobody is offering 7%, they say the highest you can get if the moon sets the right way is about 3%, specially if you diversify and put it in multiple stocks how the majority of investors do.

Due to compounding primarily, I have 8 times as much money in the market than I did 9 years ago. I will retire comfortably. The good news for you is, now is a great time to start learning and investing.

OMG...and I don't post OMG for no reason. You need some help.

I like you V, really. I'm talking about mutual funds. I have some that have average annual returns of over 10% for the last 94 years. Go to Vanguard.com. You will be glad you did.

Here is some free investing advice. No guarantees but look at the historical returns on this: https://investor.vanguard.com/mutual...formance/vwusx

The 10 year average annual return is nearly 15%. Since 1959 it has averaged 10.57%. Invest early and you retire rich. I wish I did in my 20's...

Wow. You need to talk to some better people. Anyone talking to whoever gives you advice would have been missing out on some big opportunities since 2009.

So it’s pretty much a retirement plan you can’t touch I thought you were talking about the real deal here.

Still no part of 1% to act like it sorry.

Even today with this virus stuff - the Dow Jones has TRIPLED in value since the crash in 2008.

Vnzla, play around with some compounding math tables and look at what $100,000 in 2009 would be worth today.

(Hint - if you use 8%, that doesn't mean 8K over 11 years lol)

Probably for the best since you don’t even have an elementary understanding of how it works. But that’s fine - invest in what you know.

...and it doesn't mean 8K each year for 11 years. It's a whole lot more than that.

It's a terrible shame I didn't know to invest until the late 90's. I just didn't understand the power of compounding. Nothing like getting your money working for you. It's like a big snow ball and the earlier you start the better even if it's small.

If I had 100k cash in my hands there is no way in hell I’m doing a long term investment where I can’t touch it for a long time so I can get if lucky and a buffoon doesn’t destroy the economy 7% per year

I’m capable of getting waaaaayyyy more than that for that kind of investment.

It's past time to close the northern border. We can't allow Canada's weak leadership, where PC supplants IQ, to put the American people at risk.
