He's more of a defender and rebounder. So with the starting line-up I put, you have Simmons, Jones and Warren as good defenders with LeVert, Warren and Sabo as scorers. That line-up is sorely missing 3-pointers. But then you have 4 coming in on the second unit that are capable of shooting the 3 ball. Could possibly have 5 if TJM doesn't return and we run Sumner at point. Now we could swap Brissett in the starting line-up and have Jones coming off the bench to mix things up a bit.

If anyone wants to believe Screamin' A. Smith (personally - I can't stand the guy - his schtick wore off years ago, but I digress . . . . ) -

Stephen A. Smith: Sixers star guard Ben Simmons is constantly babied (yahoo.com)

I just received a text from somebody very, very close to the situation in Philadelphia, about Ben Simmons. This is a quote, this is not me, this is them. Quote, he doesn’t work, he doesn’t listen, and everyone around him is family, and he’s constantly babied.
    So there's that . . . .

And I'm sure he's not a finished product, but at this point, his weaknesses are so pronounced that he's got about as good a chance of becoming a skilled shooter as Domas does of having an arm growth spurt. It's just not happening. He's had YEARS where I can guarantee he's had his shot analyzed and worked on with the help of experts we don't even know about. There are problems no amount of reworking is going to correct, and it goes beyond physical as there's clearly a mental aversion at this point to even trying.

Given their respective talents and limitations I'd rather keep a TJ Mac then pay Simmons a kings ransom.

Bruh, Jason Kidd developed a jumper in his late 30s.

Shooting is the single exception to that rule.

I would never expect him to hit 100+ in a season but if you surround him with shooters and put the ball in his hands, he absolutely can excel.

Ben Simmons problems are mental/maturity. They arent a lack of skill or a physical limitations like your example with Sabonis. Mental obstacles arent real, only perceived. The right coach could unlock him. Hes still like 5 years from his physical peak. The mental side is physical. Its fluid.

Who else are we gonna get that fits the description of what Simmons isnt? There arent many and none of them are coming here.

We need a big move towards developing an identity, and I would consider this to fit that criteria.

    Hey something we agree on.

It annoys me when people defend Turner shooting 33% from downtown "oh is gud for a big rah rah floor spacer!" No it's not. I don't care if you're a center or a guard, if you shot 33% from range, youre not spacing the floor and defenders will leave you alone all day bc each shot is dragging down your team costing them points. Myles is a below average shooter. He wasn't so much in his first couple years, but the league has evolved and his shooting is now officially substandard.

Yep pretty much, similar to what they do in Atlanta with Capela, LeVert/Ben pick and roll at the top and let him go down hill like always, nobody is stopping that.

Thing is Sabo/Ben are above average passers it wouldn't take that much for either one them to find the other under the basket for easy layups all day.

Philly is going to get way more for Simmons than I think many here anticipate.
