Update from Pfizer from the age groups 5 to 11. So a third of the dose gives similar antibody response in these age groups.
The data summarized from this Phase 2/3 study, which is enrolling children 6 months to 11 years of age, was for 2,268 participants who were 5 to 11 years of age and received a 10 microgram dose level in a two-dose regimen. In the trial, the SARS-CoV-2–neutralizing antibody geometric mean titer (GMT) was 1,197.6 (95% confidence interval [CI, 1106.1, 1296.6]), demonstrating strong immune response in this cohort of children one month after the second dose. This compares well (was non-inferior) to the GMT of 1146.5 (95% CI: 1045.5, 1257.2) from participants ages 16 to 25 years old, used as the control group for this analysis and who were administered a two-dose regimen of 30 microgram.Last edited by Gamble1; 09-20-2021, 07:53 AM.Leave a comment:

FDA ignoring data about booster shots will end lovely I can already see it.Leave a comment:

It is pretty sobering news that 1 in 500 Americans have died of Covid.Leave a comment:

Defiantly more covid proof than a person with a vaccine only. You basically have seen a third booster but it maybe better than a booster if the natural infection results in a more diverse antibody response. The key is whether that diversity adds up to protective antibodies that attack more than just the spike protein. In all likelihood it's a mixture of some that do and some that don't but the net effect is still probably better.Last edited by Gamble1; 09-17-2021, 11:03 PM.Leave a comment:

So here is a good paper on hybrid immunity which is the term used to describe someone who got covid then got the vaccine. The paper tries to explain why these people see a more robust immune response. This is also why some people are trying to mix and match vaccines but it is hard for me to believe this would mimic hybrid immunity especially if all the vaccines target one portion of the viral spike protein.

Now on a more personal note, my former partner on the Ambulance and my 23 year business partner until she retired last summer had to lay in an E.R. bed for 43 hours after suffering a heart attack because there were zero ICU beds available to her. We finally got her moved around 3 a.m. today.Leave a comment:

So if a vaccinated person goes in for a heart issue or diabetes and you test positive for covid then that gets counted in the records. When people pull the databases for large scale studies these are the type of things that can be misinterpreted. Most of these cases were people with a mild infection.
With what Peck posted I am not sure for what the disparity is but typically severe breakthrough infections are in the elderly 65 plus age group not in healthy middle age adults. This is supported by a recent Yale study that came out. In this study the median age for severe disease was 85.

I don't know what "in system" means, but if it means hospitalized, that is wildly out of line with any other numbers reported; if so, may want to 2x check them.Leave a comment:

I thought they already made this announcement.

The vaccination rate at IU is above 97% which is good news.Leave a comment:
