So there is no inconsistency. Yes China covered up the bat eating issue. It is culturally embarrassing that their failed communist system leads to their people eating rodents endangering the entire world with all these viruses. But the positive results they were finding are largely being advertised out of France, Stanford, Oklahoma and Australia. Only now that the news is out they're publishing that it's been working for them.

Itโ€™s crazy when you think about all the incredible things modern medicine can do. All the life-saving surgeries, all the cures, all the medicine, all the illnesses that have been defeated......

......then a virus brings the world to its knees

Jaw-dropping when you wrap your head around it. And horrifying.

Modern medicine is amazing, but there is FAR more that we do not know. We have studied cancer for decades but it's not cured. The common cold, caused by a variety of viruses has been around forever. Still not eradicated. Our pharmaceutical companies don't really discover drugs IMO. Let me explain.

Big pharma "discovers" drugs by robotic experiments (i.e. high throughput screeing) using 96 well plates and different variations of the same compounds. IOW, they are shooting a shot gun at the wall to see if they can hit a target. They essentially back into the solution. They find something that works and after millions of experiments claim they found it. I guess they did and that have a general idea of what might possibly work but they just don't know much. I know this because I've worked in R&D. Smart people. Mostly not geniuses. They just aren't that much smarter than you and I.

So, when something like this comes along, I'm more surprised it didn't arrive earlier, especially with a bunch of communists dining on flying rodents.

Like climate change who a lot of people are predicting is going to be catastrophic (already is) they also predicted a new virus and what was possible

Spanish Flu was in 1918 before the industrial revolution. Had nothing to do with climate.

This China flu has to do with culture, not climate. If you don't already know, it is a known fact that these viruses come from bats. What happens is they carry horrendous viruses and their immune system is able to deal with it. They survive it where it would kill other animals. But then when a person in Wuhan goes through the drive-thru for a bat sandwich, fries and a shake, we have a really big problem.

                  Uh...here. Read up: https://www.sciencealert.com/deadly-...e-patient-zero

edit: I was really tempted to post one of the videos of them eating bat, but refrained. There is actually a worse video showing them eating live mice. The mice are still moving on the plate. The guy uses chopstix and dips the live mouse into something that looks like urine and then drops it right in his mouth.

                  This is a problem. Right?

Wait ... you really think someone got this from eating a bat? And not, like, pork from a pig who ate something contaminated with bat saliva?

Spanish flu took my great aunt Ella's husband when they were very young and very early in their marriage.. My dad would take us to visit her on the homestead when I was very young. She never remarried.

Yes, I actually do believe that is the most likely reason. They have eaten bat forever and most countries in Southeast Asia eat bat. It was banned only a couple months ago in China in response to this virus:

International agencies pressured China to adopt legislation forbidding the hunting of bats and sale of bat meat following the early 2000s SARS outbreak where hundreds of people died, though no such legislation was passed.[4] All wildlife trade in China, including bat meat, was banned in January 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic which originated in Wuhan.

The Industrial Revolution, now also known as the First Industrial Revolution, was the transition to new manufacturing processes in Europe and the United States, in the period from about 1760 to sometime between 1820 and 1840

Someone's keeping tabs on the headline of a New York Times' article on the stimulus plan. It's an interesting look at the evolution of fake news.

                              Phase 1. Dems' fault!
Phase 2. Dems' fault . . . but out of kindness and compassion!
                              Phase 3. Both parties' fault!
Phase 4. TBD (headline writers are currently working around the clock to figure out a way to twist the news to be Republicans' fault)
