Talk about snatching victory from the jaws of defeat...
Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

That was a victory, and you can't take that away, but I wouldn't feel too good or confident about it. Offensive struggles and a bonehead move by the opposition (and kicker struggles likely as well) led more to the win than anything Colts' offense did.

Well the season was at risk at completely going down the tubes and we responded with a win against one of the best teams in the league. Credit where credit is due. Great win.

Something about these Reich teams - when you expect them to win, they can burn you. But when you don’t expect much, they can surprise you with a win.

I’m not getting my hopes up until we see consistency, but this is just a huge huge win.

What can't be ignored - the kicking game did what the kicking game is supposed to do.

Defense and STs had strong games. Passing game still sucks. MVP = Jones w/ the penalty to keep our drive alive. I suppose sometimes you have to be lucky to win, but a 0-1-1 against trash teams, luck won't be enough to win much unless the pass game gets going. With our protection and lack of dynamic receivers, I am not getting excited.

Ryan did his thing at the end of game. Kudos to him.

I don't think the passing game itself was bad - I put more blame on the O-line. When Ryan had sufficient time, he was pretty good. And the running game was pretty blah. Weren't that many places to run.

Don't know how many times the announcers mentioned it - but they frequently pointed out how poorly they were for being the most expensive line in the league.

Okay, semantics. The way I look at it, the passing game can't be good if the foundation - the protection - is a bunch of turnstiles. Would love for it to be stable enough to make a more representative assessment of other passing game variables.

I think the announcers mentioned that it looked like the pre-snap adjustments are all messed up. Too many defenders running free to the ball or the QB. We are definitely not blocking well and I concur they aren’t really working together as a group. We are less than the sum of the parts right now and it’s painful. If it is reads and adjustments that is fixable.

Kelly should still not be trying to double team when you see a potential blitz

I saw nothing today that made me think coaching isn't a problem. Especially when you know the offense is under the control of Reich so you can't blame it on the OC. I suppose you could make some argument that the blocking issues aren't all on Reich, but some of the play calls seem to ignore the blocking issues. Nothing says they can't simplify some things. I wonder how much is just Reich is predictable enough the defense knows exactly what they need to do on most given plays and can disguise some things to confuse the offense?

Yes. So why did he? Brain fart or the blitz wasn't called or seen or was schemed differently. Brain fart is certainly possible. Players screw up and of all players on the line the center should know the blocking scheme. But that guy was right in the A gap. Maybe he thought LG was picking that up and all the protection was sliding to the right? One play I'd say it was just a mistake. But so many people running free at the QB the whole game it makes me think there is something more.

I wish I could feel better about the season and this win, but other than the Colts being 1-1-1 right now instead of 0-3 that was definitely possible considering how the games have went, it's just hard to think the Colts have righted the ship.
It's really hard to figure how they actually won the KC game. Obviously, defense did its job, but as for the offense.... protection problems, turnovers, and Maddenesque play calling (not John Madden... Gaming Madden) and not just one of each that was poorly timed, but continual. The final drive actually stalled out but the Colts were gifted an extra set of downs due to a flag. And a subjective flag at that.
Of course the Colts being the Colts, returned that exact favor for KC getting the same basic penalty on STs and gifting KC 15 free yards to start their last drive. Fortunately, the defense came thru, which was fitting that the defense sealed the win.
