In fairness to Reich, I would like to see what he could do if he actually had the same starting quarterback for consecutive seasons for once.

Next year will be the year.

We’ve blown so many opportunities against good teams....then we keep getting new opportunities to right the ship. Well it doesn’t get much bigger than a prime time Saturday night game right before Christmas against red hot New England.

A win against the Pats wouldn’t erase those bad losses, but it sure would be a massive step forward.

I think we are very close to the Pats in terms of talent, but they are coached by Belichick and therefore are much better than the Colts at execution in key spots. I would be very surprised if New England beat us by a large margin. I think it will be a close game and we will have opportunities to win. The question is whether we will make the plays or not. If we lose yet another home game against a tough opponent, then I honestly don’t even really want to see them in the playoffs.

Belichick will have almost two weeks to scheme against us. If we make some of the mistakes we’ve made in the past, we are doomed.

I think we've got to win at least 3 out of 4, but realistically all 4 to get in.

Fivethirtyeight's simulation of the season doesn't think so. It thinks the Colts are slight underdogs to get in by winning 2 of 4, and almost guaranteed to get in by winning 3.

Okay, well then I'll revise to we need to win 3 then. Part of me hopes it plays out that 2 wins is enough. It seems to me the last two games (LV, @ JAX) we should be favored. But the other two are major challenges, and you can't mis-step on the last two either. If it does turn out to take 3, our track record against high-tier comp makes me nervous.

It’s amazing when you think about it: we’ve been frustrated by tough losses to good teams all year.......and our next two games are against the current 1 seed in each conference.

The opportunities keep coming, but sooner or later they will run out.

Playoff picture still looks solid because we have the win over Buffalo and Pitt has that tie on their record instead of a win. We should be able to beat LV (we have no business getting in if we can’t be them). The Browns and Broncos just don’t seem that good to me.

Cincy & Buffalo OT losses leave Colts in 2nd WC spot currently. Chance for Colts to right the wrongs of TN, TB, BALT this week against AFC top seed at home. I think a win catapults us to a 3-1 finish and a playoff berth. A loss and we may make it but won't control our own destiny.

One thing I've learned this season... Don't count on the Colts to do what they need to do. They win against beatable teams. Not so much against better teams, even if on paper the Colts are better. Even if they can jump out to a lead.
Unless they can just blitzkrieg the Pats, I suspect the Hoodie will easily outcoach Reich. In fact, I see him baiting Reich into some mistakes. Reich isn't winning many chess match games. He'll definitely find ways to lose them though. He's a coach that can pull defeat from the jaws of victory more times than not.
Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

Must win game tonight. Patriots are due for a loss and the Colts are due for big win at home for once. Stop choking at the end of games damn it.

Damn Colts up 20-0 in the 3rd quarter… playing a perfect game. Yet they determined to find ways to beat themselves. Pittman gets ejected and immediately afterwards Bagley whiffs a FG far left. I mean this team is incapable being disciplined about the way they handle themselves.

Patriots just scored and have the entire 4th left to to get 2 more scores. The momentum has shifted, all because Pittman couldn’t keep his helmet on and his head cool.

Damn Taylor said not today Bill. I really thought New England was gonna force a 4 and out and March right now the field and score a TD.

                                Quick thoughts:

It's hard to say if it's because of Wentz or lack of weapons, but the Colts passing offense against really good pass defenses is scary bad. There aren't many pass defenses as good as the Patriots, but it's still hard to see.

The defense was so good tonight. They may not be able to hold up against the absolute best passing offenses, but they can just crush these types of balanced offenses.

4th down conversions led to an extra field goal, a closer field goal (that the Colts unfortunately missed), and drained an extra minute+forcing 2 Patriots timeouts. None of them were completely instrumental, but they were a huge help.
