A good number on here don't agree with me but IMO Walker's best opportunity to become a long term starter for the Pacers is to move to the starting 4 at the end of Pascal's contract. His 3 point shooting feels ahead of Myles at this stage in his career and it is a position he could eventually defend at a fairly high level. His floor stretching could also create room for the Pacers to eventually transition to a Center with a more traditional game and not disrupt what they try to do on offense.

If that assumption is truly viable and Walker can hold his own as a back-up 4 next year then unfortunately Obie is the primary target to create space for Myles next contract. Pains me to say it because I am a big fan and have been very happy with Toppins game and development in a Pacer uniform.

It's hard for me to declare the bench the best in the league when the Pacers struggle so much more anytime a bench player comes into the game. They're deep and they soak up minutes allowing the starters to remain fresh, but the best benches in the league expand leads. The Pacers bench loses leads more often than it expands them. Some of that is to be expected because they play a few more minutes than the average bench, but not all of it.

I love TJ, but he's been almost unplayable in about half of the playoff games. The last game, Rick couldn't get him out fast enough. Walker will replace Toppin's minutes at a fraction of the cost, he could be a break out player next season.
That's a crazy take considering Toppin and TJM combined for 33 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds in game 4 against the Cavs.
Pacers should just pay the tax. It feels like the Brad Miller situation all over again.

My view is you do whatever is needed to keep the starting five together. They are such a cohesive, well balanced unit. Reminds me of the 12-13 team that way.

Without reading the whole thread… If the Pacers go to the finals or win the championship then we just need to go into the tax to keep the team together. Mathurin and Walker aren’t as important at that point if we make it further but Myles, TJM, Nesmith are

I just came across this article.

Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner is set to be one of the better free agents available this offseason. If Indiana has their way, Turner won't be available for long. That's even if the Pacers have to dip into the luxury tax to keep their starting center.

Indiana hasn't been a tax team since 2005. In all, the Pacers have paid less than $10 million in tax penalties in team history. To re-sign Turner, while keeping the rest of the team together, Indiana could go more than $10 million into the tax for next season alone.

At the start of the offseason, with Turner an unrestricted free agent and at least three open roster spots, the Pacers project to be $14 to $16 million under the tax line. Turner alone should command a starting salary north of $20 to $25 million.
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

Getting benched by some guy called Bradley because he is not good should help to lower his price by a lot.

Um, what? He got benched in game 1 in favor of a different type of lineup. Turner never got benched last night.

You mean Bryant? Turner played 33 mins and got 19 points.

Rick has been benching him all series long for some guy i didn’t know played for Pacers because the 30 millions man can’t handle KAT/Robinson.

Also if you think he looks bad now just wait until they play OKC.

Otherwise known as he's getting his normal rest just like the rest of the starters do. I've acknowledged game 1, the Pacers did go away from Turner late in that game. That did not happen in game 2 or 3. He played his normal minutes, got his normal rest, and was playing at the end of two close games.

Assuming this is true I am glad the owner is willing to go into the LT to keep Turner. The whole backup center position behind Turner has been a disaster. I honestly can't think of a time when I felt good about that position.

                              Comparing KAT and Myles

                              60 million vs 30 million

Brunson supposedly took a discount and then
the team goes way over the cap to get KAT
The wrong guy is getting 60

Not saying he's worth $60m but the timing on this post is quite poor considering he destroyed us in game 3
