not thrilled about this...i don't think math is enough of a shooting threat to play 2... nembhard would have to step up and play a lot of 2 i think if buddy is gone...luckily we still have tjm to fill in the backcourt

The time to move Buddy was exactly 1 year ago but here we are. I don't see a tall defensive minded 3 that's ready to contribute now that we could land. If we could get a projected lottery range 1st I'd do that but barring that unlikely occurrence I'd be fine with taking a gamble on Leonard Miller if Minnesota would do it.
Why do teams tank? Ask a Spurs fan.

I read somewhere that a Buddy trade makes it more likely we sign Nesmith to a reasonable extension. Not sure if that was purely just conjecture or not but I don't hate that, if it's reasonable enough.

Does anyone know how to access the Scott Agness/Buddy Hield article? I'm having trouble in New Zealand.

OG is an expiring contract too if he plans on opting out. They don't have much leverage, neither do the Pacers I guess

Buddy Hield: Six trade destinations that make sense
The Pacers could be seeking an impact player or premium draft pick for Buddy Hield. Here are six teams that could potentially trade for him.

Seems like it would've been easier to deal him before the draft?

Og is maybe worth a first. Maybe. Expiring, always injured, and a good but not great player. This four firsts for him is laughable. He was the fourth best player on a .500 team

Who said anything about 4 first rounders? Someone brought that up as a hypothetical.

I know right? Some people on here truly do not appreciate the fact that Buddy Hield i IS the NBA leader in 3-pointers made over the last five seasons with 1,381. Golden State’s Stephen Curry (1,261) and Portland’s Damian Lillard (1,118) rank second and third, respectively, behind Hield’s 3-pointers made in the past five years.

We would be absolute fools to let him go.. I do not believe he minds the 6th man role honestly.. I just think the offer he received, we was lowballing him.. and he knows he is worth more.. Hell Doug McDermott got great $$ and he isn't half the player and shooter that Hield is ..
Not to mention but I will , he and Eric Gordon led the Bahamas to their first ever win and invitation next year.

Doug McDermott signed a 3 year / $41,250,000 contract with the San Antonio Spurs, including $41,250,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $13,750,000. In 2023-24, McDermott will earn a base salary of $13,750,000, while carrying a cap hit of $13,750,000 and a dead cap value of $13,750,000

I think Hield is worth 20 /year easily .. and especially playing with Tyrese and Nembhard and with this special Pacers team that I believe we have goin on ...

I think (and hope) that this report is just normal back and forth negotiations and Buddy stays here ..

We will regret not having that sweet shooting stroke when the game is on the line..

We may regret not having his shooting next season, yes, but not as much as we would regret locking him up for 20 mil + a year for the foreseeable future and what that might do to our cap flexibility, especially as all these young guys start leaving their rookie contracts plus Tyrese's new deal.

I like him but I’m very ok moving him. He has been good in Indy but is also the perfect example of a player with an elite talent that yields diminishing returns. Let’s not forget that even with his 3 pt shooting, this team went on a very long and painful losing streak the moment Haliburton went out due to injury. I’m also not interested in paying him to barely make the playoffs/lose in the first round. I’d rather try something else.
Peck is basically omniscient when it comes to understanding how the minds of Herb Simon and Kevin Pritchard work. I was a fool to ever question him and now feel deep shame for not understanding that this team believes in continuity above talent.

What I'm most curious about is what these supposed extension numbers looked like. Why does it seem the Pacers always have **** drag on into the dog days where no one is in deal making mode? You're telling me we didn't know we were too far apart back at the draft?

Suppose I would target OG or Hunter... or go for an even bigger fish with our other assets.

They hadn't extended Hali Burton by then so they might have been waiting to see how that priority planned out first?

Or throw in a first-round pick and flip it for a max-level point guard...
