I generally don't like the move because not only is the question of whether Simmons going to produce here a huge risk but also the packages we'd have had to give up under most scenarios mean we have nothing to support him with anyway. That's two risks for the price of one. LeVert, Brogdon, and a 1st seems to be the bare minimum we could get away with to avoid that even if I'm still not fond of it.
I fully expect that the trade would fail; however, apart from Carlisle, this summer has been one long, continued failure by the Pacers. I think we went into this summer as a reasonably talented 4-6 seed with a lot of assets but poor roster construction, and left the summer as a 4-6 seed with less assets and poor roster construction. Would Simmons fit on this team? No. Does this team work as constructed? No. At this point a trade IMO makes the team different, not better, but considering how I view the summer and how boring the team feels, I'm for it just to create interest and some dynamic shift. Also, while I like LaVert, I wouldn't care if Brogdon left, and I likely wouldn't miss the pick based on estimate finish.

I was wondering if he got "injured" so that he won't risk injury while a deal is in the works.

Take this year to figure out which one of Sabonis/Turner fits best with the guy and be ready to make the secondary moves over the summer that maximize Simmons talent.

If the move ultimately fails so be it. There will be plenty of time after for the naysayers to claim victory, drag up old posts where they "called it" and ***** endlessly about the organization.....
I am one who thinks Simmons in Indiana would be unlikely to work (for both fit on the court and off). But I would be happy making that deal if that was the price. There's still a small chance that it works, and even if it doesn't Indiana could turn around and deal Simmons for at least close to the same value. You even have a scenario where it doesn't work, but Simmons has still increased his value.

I still think something will happen with Simmons before the season starts. Nobody wins if it goes on into the season. Plus taking money from players is not a good look for Philly even if they are
    justified.

Carlisle being the coach is the only reason I think Simmons coming here might have any chance of working.

I've softened a bit because I don't mind bottoming out for a couple years if the deal blows up in our face. I just don't want them to give up more than a single lottery protected 1st because bringing Ben Simmons to Indiana will likely be a disaster.

Carlise has some say in the roster now as well. If he wants him and thinks he can make it work, so be it. Just please don't give up multiple picks KP.

I don't think Simmons moves the needle for us at all because the baggage he brings is going to mean not being able to take advantage of the skills he might bring for the short time he will be here. I also really want LeVert to be successful and I think we'll regret not having him on the team when he becomes so. But, as a sign of good faith to those who are ready to rearrange the deck chairs just so SOMETHING gets done, I'd be OK with this.

I don't think his value on the market is going to be very high. Even if he is relatively healthy this season and average 25ppg, I don't think he will be able to get much more than what we are paying Sabonis.
