If you want to look at the bright side of this, if somehow we can get past the Bobcats in the first round (which honestly right now I have serious doubts) then at the least you will play either the Raptors or the Wizards in the second round. Granted right now we would get smoked by any of the three of them but that actually is more appealing than having to face the Bulls or the Nets in the second round assuming we could beat the Hawks.
See sun shinerโs I didnโt leave you out, right there at the top of the post I have given you a silver lining. Now you might want to stop reading because that is all you are going to get.
Look I have no idea. I mean the number one seed is now gone and the Heat (Chris Bosh) are actually making fun of us. We deserve it btw, but it still burns like a son of a gun to read them and know that they are correct.
Also for those of you not able to watch NBA tv be thankful, we are getting roasted by every talking head in the NBA for being to vocal about getting the number one seed and now choking it away.
If our team was suffering from to much positive press then that should no longer be a problem.
Here is an interesting tidbit for you, for the first time in the franchises history the team has failed to score 80 points three games in a row.
Iโm just going to go ahead and say it now. The Evan Turner for Danny Granger trade was a disaster in the locker room and now officially it is a disaster on the court. Turner was benched in the second half after 7 min. of useless first half play. Donโt get me wrong the ship was headed south prior to the trade but this was like killing a dying hamster with a shotgun.
The worst thing that is going to happen to this team is that we are going to play again Wednesday. We need a week off but thatโs not going to happen. The only thing that can be done now is just keep trying and then once we get to the point that the number one seed is out of the question then we should just shut down a couple of guys or way back down their min. so that they can get rested for the playoffs. In fact I would consider starting LaVoy Allen and using Copeland as early as this weekend.
West needs a break and Scola just needs to sit.
I believe we are cursed if you want the truth. No matter what we try or what we do the Indiana bench is just the death of our team. Literally the only player on our team from last year on our bench is Mahinmi and we are once again looking at the same results. Is it because Frank just can not adjust an offense so guys suffer on our bench or is it something else? I have no idea. I mean I would have paid Gerald Greenโs plane ticket to get him off of the team last season and while I was always higher on Plumlee than some of you were (just from watching him in Ft Wayne) I thought that Scola was a steal. But as it stands now if I could have a do over button Iโd probably hit it just to keep Plumlee (Green Iโd still get rid of).
Luis was a huge part of the reason why we started off so well but to be honest if he isnโt hitting that elbow jumper he is pretty much useless. But our backup power forward is not the reason we canโt score 80 points a game that falls on our starters.
15 points in the first quarter that is what your starters, plus Turner, gave you. Youโre going to beat no one scoring that let alone the Spurs. We actually only got up 69 shots compared to their 80. I mean you canโt even really complain about shot disparity tonight, the most shots anyone took was 13 and Hibbert, Stephenson & George are the ones who took them. So itโs not like you can point to any one player and say โstop shooting the ball so muchโ.
Itโs just once again the same old story we see every game, we can not make shots open, defended or otherwise. David West once again missed several easily makeable shots early in the game and that has to be demoralizing for everyone because they were good shots gotten within the offense.
But I have no idea how to correct shot making. I saw them setting some screens out on the top of the key a little better than they had recently and in fact I saw George Hill set a masterful screen on Leonard that opened up Paul for a shot. If I remember right he missed the shot but got fouled, but it was due to the screen set by Hill.
I am just going to continue to say what Iโve said all along, we need the regular season to end. The damage is done, we are out of first and we will not be getting it back so the best thing we can do is just continue to work and try and improve and pray that the locker room is not so toxic that we canโt over come it.
Iโll give the sun shiners one more glimpse of hope, the playoffs are a whole new season and with any luck at all Watson (who I believe must have ripped his leg off for the amount of time he has been gone) will be back and if there is any form of a miracle at all maybe Bynum can play a game or two.
Other than that there really is nothing else good to say.
Again Iโm just not interested enough to do grades.
