I think the Grizzlies are better too and look more like their 2011 Playoffs form, but now they lack scoring on the perimeter. They need someone off the bench who can come in and score at will (i.e. the Mayo role).

They're definitely still going to be an elite defensive/inside team. They still need a shooter BAD but I don't think they'll fall off as much as some ppl think. What they lose in Gay's individual ISO's, they gain in Prince knowing his role. I think Conley will be the biggest key of how good this team will be, The ball will be in his hands, especially down the stretch. Can he make enough plays offensively within the half court remains to be seen.
I wonder if they have another trade coming so they can get that shooter, shot creator you are talking about.

I personally think the Grizz should have tried to trade Gay to Milwaukee for Monta+filler. Of course I don't know if the Bucks would have done that given Gay's contract, but Monta would have been perfect for the Grizz to bring off the bench and use in the perimeter scoring role.

That would be so weird. Has a top 10 team ever done this much overhaul in one season and still won a playoff series?

Nice article about the Memphis situation and their new ownership.

It also look like Gay asked to be traded(not in the article just twitter)

so the fact that the Grizzlies got freaking Ed Davis in the deal makes it a fleecing./QUOTE]

I just don't see Ed Davis as some great up n coming player. Never have. To me, he's another Anthony Randolph. It will be interesting to see how much Davis plays and produces. JMOAA

Prince is a reluctant, but pretty good offensive player, especially in post up situations, and even at his advanced age he's a better defender than Gay. Also Prince can do some sio plays depending who is guarding him.

Check out his numbers from about the middle of December, when Bargnani was sidelined and replaced by Davis in the starting lineup. He's been pretty consistently putting up 12/8 and better since then. Far better than Anthony Randolph ever did and probably ever will.

OK, so who is going to play meaningful minutes at b/u SF? Wroten, Pondexter, Johnson, or Daye? Pondexter, Wroten, and Johnson are 6'6", well they are listed at that, with little experience. Daye is taller with more experience than all 3 of those put together.
IMO, unless Memphis picks up a SF, Daye will be the b/u SF. This year he's shooting 44% FG, 52% 3pt, and 83% FT. He's not great, but to me the best of the 4 to get the meaningful 15-18 b/u min at SF.
