I'm not much of a hockey guy, but I've heard and read about some AHL teams relocate or fold.

I think a team from Iowa moved not too long ago.

I hope you are joking. We're talking NHL.

Man, Detroit loves their Red Wings.

If you're talking NHL then bring the Islanders to the Fieldhouse. They are in a horrible location and Long Island has no interest in granting them their wish to get a new arena. They could be moving to Brooklyn with the Nets.

          Problem solved.

Anyway, where would they play in Indianapolis? Don't say the Fieldhouse, it won't work.

I find that quote tiresome because while no one said it was written, no one else said we couldn't at least strive for it.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet but I just heard from Bruno and he thinks it's very unlikely that the Pacers will be moving anytime soon. From what he's heard, the Pacers and City both want to get a deal done to keep them here.

So yeah, take it for what it's worth.

              EDIT: Here's his exact words.

              Bruno:
There's almost no chance of a move. The Pacers want to get a deal done. The city wants to get a deal done. The state wants to get a deal done. So a deal will get done.

Where and to whom did Bruno say this, Day-V?

And yeah, if the state is involved, there's much more reason for confidence.

The Pacers employ less than 100 people total, and have service contracts with ? many more for cleaning and building maintenance. But none of those restaurants are there because of the Pacers' 41 home games a year -- and wouldn't be there at all if not for the daily business crowd and the convention center.

Heck, even if every $9 an hour restaurant job in Indianapolis were tied to the Pacers, I wouldn't justify them on that account. Would anyone? How many of us want to earn what a bus boy makes?
There is a vitality to the downtown that is not dependent on whether the team is playing that night or not. It isn't the pacers per se but it is the totality of the three sports teams, the Simon mall, and the perception that this is a good town to live in. Throw in to the mix some sports pride, think Butler, and there is a vitality that other midwestern cities don't have. So the question isn't whether the city supports sports but whether the city will invest in quality of life entities such as sports, parks, theatre, and art. Think cold winter nights in Indy with no pacer team and a dead downtown. It's not about whether people like bball at all. Attractive cities provide for more than a job, place to live, and decent schools.

Except Columbus has an NHL team and a major university with big time athletics in its city limits.

Newsflash- the franchise wants a solution in 30-40 days. The season is over after tonight. Your proposed solution will take YEARS to achieve.

If the state gets involved, that is a good thing. It has far more resources at its disposal than the city of Indianapolis. The state made sure the Colts stayed in Indiana. That's all that matters to me.

We're probably not even going anywhere anyway. The crowd has improved.
