    Pacers to sign Flip Murray?

Makes me wonder if JT is out for the year? Diener has been logging a lot of minutes and it looks like TPTB are looking for some more depth.

Pacers expected to sign Flip Murray

TORONTO -- The Indiana Pacers are about to get some help in the backcourt.

Flip Murray, who was waived by the Detroit Pistons last week, is expected to sign with the Pacers on Saturday.

The Pacers want Murray to help starter Travis Diener to help fill the point guard void left by Jamaal Tinsley. Tinsley has been out since Feb. 5 because of a knee injury. He said before Friday's game against the Toronto Raptors that he doesn't know when he'll be back in the lineup.

Murray averaged 7.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 19 games with the Pistons this season. He has played in 309 games with Detroit, Milwaukee, Seattle and Cleveland in his five-year career.

      Good Lord.

I mean, fine, give him a shot, but have 0 expectations.

Is he really a PG at all? I thought he was a SG?

That's already my motto for the season.

Hmm...the LA Times says the Clippers are expected to sign Flip:

One of the few charismatic eras of the Clippers franchise came to an anticlimactic end Wednesday, with the team buying out the contract of veteran point guard Sam Cassell.

I think this signals a few things:

            1. JT may very well be out for the season. Why else would TPTB bring in Murray for a short-term rental unless they knew something that hasn't been announced?

            2. I think that JOB and LB are looking to give Diener a little breather. Diener has been a career backup in the NBA and has never logged as many minutes as he has until the past few weeks. I think LB & DW are simply looking for a veteran to pick up some minutes for the next 2 months of the season while not wearing out Diener.

            3. I just hope this doesn't screw up our chances in the lottery and potentially affect losing out on a top pick. The basketball gods need to look down on the Pacers for the draft lottery!!!

Shade, I saw the same article earlier today via HoopsHype, but the Star article was posted after the game tonight, so maybe things have changed? Perhaps the Pacers offered more and told Murray that he and Diener would split time at the 1 with JT possibly out for the year?

I hope they make a push for Ty Lue, don't know if they would want him or if he would come here, but if they want PG help he would work.

That's possible. After all, he can only sign with one team. I think.

Re: Pacers to sign Flip Murray?

I've been wanting us to get Flip Murray for years.

It doesn't matter if he is a point guard or a shooting guard the way our coach has us playing. The fact that he can shoot is a bonus and while he is no lock down defender he at least will make an effort.

BTW, I guess someone has to say it.

Anybody have the feeling that someone in the Pacers org. has told Jamaal he isn't playing the rest of the year?

I've been wondering if it was the other way around.

                            I was thinking that...

I was actually allowing myself to dream that this last episode finally shook up the organization enough that they decided there was no way they could let 'the bad egg' back in a Pacer uniform and ever be taken seriously when they talk of getting this organization back to being a team we can all be proud of.

While finally making a stand with Tinsley is GREAT, he can't be the scapegoat tho. He just has to be the first step.

Hopefully my dream doesn't turn to a nightmare and Tinsley returns in a game or two... or next season!

Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.
