The pacers currently project to have PG and SG locked up for the foreseeable future.
In our current state, the pacers should still draft best player available. But from pick 6 to 12, the talent tier is more or less the equal.
What does the pacers need more, a sf or a pf?
I think the pacers should draft a pf (4) if the talent is almost equal. They already have quite a log jam at the 2, and some of them can play some 3.
basically, I believe the pacers should draft players that primarily plays 4 and a bit of a 3 that have the height of at least 6’7.
This will then streamline the players the pacers should go after.
pg: hali
sg: Mathurin
sf:
Pf:
c:
I'm with pizza guy...all things equal I think you have to prioritize SF over PF. We definitely need guys 6'7"+ if Scoots not sitting there. That eliminates guys like Keyonte George and Nick Smith Jr. (I doubt he's being considered that high now but some people still have him up there.)Comment

Some background on the twins and OTE. They seem to have the type of personalities Rick is looking to bring in. After reading that, I'd say it's likely they'll be high up our board. If we stay top 8, let's say, I bet we come out of this draft with one of Amen, Ausur, Walker, Black, Whitmore, or Hendricks. I'm calling it now.

I would be pretty happy if we came out of the draft with one of those.{o,o}

Since it seems to be the consensus here (and pretty much everywhere) that Brandon Miller's at least a top 3-4 guy, I'm gonna lay out my issues with him here so we can look back a few years from now and see how awesome (or dumb) I was. I have reasons to be lower on him than just my extraordinary ability to read people. Here are some legitimate concerns with his game and how it fits with the Pacers...
• He's over 20 and only weighs 200 pounds. He's a weakling and we have too many of those already.
• Just an average athlete. Not much of a first step or burst off the dribble. He's got a great handle but he's not going to be able to get by guys consistently at the next level and he's not strong enough to play bully ball.
• I project him to be only a slightly above-average defensive player due to his lack of athleticism and strength. This team needs a better defender at SF than that.
• Old freshman at 20.35, only a month younger than TCU Junior Mike Miles. He's the most polished player in college bball so why'd he wait to play? That's a bit of a red flag to me. Maybe there's a good reason for it that I'm unaware of.
• He's got a lower release and that could make it hard for him to get his shot off against NBA size. I think he's likely more of a spot-up guy at the next level than a guy that's going to get a ton of shots off the dribble. I don't project him to be a great iso player due to the low release and lack of burst.
• Could this be a Jabari Smith situation? He should be better than Jabari because he's more skilled, but he's going to be another top 5 pick coming out of that Alabama system drafted mostly because everybody thinks he's going to be an elite 3-point shooter at the next level. That hasn't worked out all that well for Houston (granted Jabari's shot better here recently).
He'll probably be drafted top 5 as long as the off-court stuff checks out. He's the most polished NBA-ready player in the draft and probably has one of the highest floors as well. How high is the ceiling though? That's what I question about Brandon. I project his ceiling to be a Franz Wagner level player with different strengths and weaknesses. A guy that can make some all star teams in the right situation but not likely an all nba level guy.Comment

We gonna get the number 1 pick. You got to manifest it by speaking it out loud over and over. You can't get champagne from a garden hose.Comment

We’re going to land the 5, 6, 7, or 8 pick. Unless something magical happens. Id be okay with either Thompson twin, Whitmore or Walker.
preference is Whitmore then Walker"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

I am pretty torn on Whitmore. I see him more as a strength based player that is showing flashes of 3 point shooting. Difficult to see what position will he play in the nba. For whitmore, to know if he is a sf or a pf matters to me, as his measurement 6,7 230 pounds is just ok as a 4. He do show good mobility to stay in front of college guards.
