Sucks to lose that one after fighting back, also a big one for eking something out of the tough early schedule.

Duarte was obviously great. As far as creating their own shot I really think it’s he and Levert 1 and 2 already. Let’s just pencil him in for 30mpg for the next decade.

Resolving Turbonis by not playing them together just amounts to a hopeless mis allocation of resources. I’ll be intrigued to see whether Craig with Sabonis down the stretch is the plan or was just because of the opponent.

That said, Myles had some mind boggling turnovers tonight, also got out rebounded more than was happening last year. Wasn’t a great night for him. The egalitarian nature of the offense seems to put him in situations where he is overextended too often. Might have just been a rough opening night.

The 24-0 run made me want to send Nate Bjorkgren an ‘I’m Sorry’ card.

Didn’t see anything tonight that made the muddle of a roster more understandable. 8 man rotation game 1 was unexpected.

Anyway, thanks to Duarte (and hopefully Jackson sooner rather than later) at least there is something to look forward to watching even if the results are a struggle early.

I really don't understand how anybody can enjoy watching a team jack up 50 3s in a game with uncontested shots/lanes everywhere. Despite players having better positioning down low or slashing to the lane unimpeded, numerous times we insisted on jacking up the 3. Just ugly basketball to watch. Thanks Silver.

And yes, Duarte is our 2nd best player and could have scored 40 tonight if he was the focal point over Brogdon and whatever Holiday/Lamb were doing. He plays the game the right way, but unfortunately his game will get warped into chucking 3s. Hope not, but that's what this league is now.

I remember that. Lived up there at the time. And man did people have him earmarked as the Bucks savior and future after that game. Only thing good that came outta those days was the "Fear the Deer" slogan.

Don't think he'll live up to his own 20ppg/DPOY hype?

No. First off, this wasn’t a bad loss.
                • First game of the season
                • Two key starters out
                • Charlotte was making crazy banker shots off the glass, including LaMelo who made two of them.
                • Jeremy Lamb missed two wide open 3’s in crunch time
A lot had to happen for us to lose that game. But I watched Sabonis and how he plays. Offensively, he seems lightyears ahead of Myles. I think while Myles can block shots, he’s just never gonna be the offensive talent Domas is now, and will be in the future. Now that Sabonis looks comfortable shooting from 3, it’s time to move Myles for either a star, or two really good bench players.

Can’t base shooting on 1 game. Remember last year he was hitting at 40 percent for a couple of games just to start shooting in the sub 20s for the rest of the year? Plus he almost air balled a 12 foot jumper on the elbow.

McDermott has to move the whole time on offense. Duarte can move too, but his defense resistance is just so high.
Duarte has the goods. He can just stroke it and doesn't need space just needs rhythm.

And Duarte is a lot more than just a shooter (so was Doug obviously). Again my fear is that the Pacers will hold him back in some capacity... like tonight, too much playing Duarte as a spot up shooter when he has the goods to post-up, slash, come off screens, run pick and roll, play the mid-range game, and facilitate as a playmaker. Have to let Duarte play and if he surpasses *****-made Brogdon, then let him.

Was finally able to watch it later this evening. Hurts to lose, but hell of a game. How many of you were bitc*ing and crying when we picked Duarte? It got quite dramatic in here on draft night and the day after. Maybe try giving the guys a chance before you jump to conclusions next time...

Also, I'm flipping through the game thread after the fact and the usual suspects are ripping on Domas at every opportunity. Guy had a ridiculously good box score and some clutch buckets, the game ender not withstanding. Never change, PD.

Would like to see Jeremy Lamb contribute something meaningful to the team at some point (three years too late), if he's going to be getting those minutes. Hope Rick opens up the rotation a bit as the season progresses. Curious to see what adjustments he will make in the early weeks of the season. We all know it's going to be a bumpy ride for a while with the early schedule, but would be nice to see some progress. Malcolm playing 40 minutes is clearly not advisable nor sustainable.

Haven't been around as much lately. Hope all of you are doing well.

look i'm happy to see Duarte light it up if he keeps this clip, but just in general the whole team got knocked out of whack about half way through the 3rd quarter when brogdon and sabonis played way too much clogged toilet basketball. all of our beatiful off ball cutting from the first half just completely disappeared.

Domas was great 1st, 2nd, 4th. But he still let himself get caught up in Brogdon's **** show of a 3rd quarter. If those two guys are gonna be our best guys, we can't ever have a stretch where we get outscored 24-0 and they were both on the court for that entire run.

Sabonis gotta carry that weight, just like Brogdon should. It's not like they were sitting on the bench when that happened.

I'm being 100% serious, let me know the next time any other potentially playoff hopeful team gives up a 24-0 run with their supposedly two best guys on the court. It just shouldn't happen.

That being said, I'm so over watching Justin Holiday and Jeremy Lamb. Holiday's green light to shoot is so maddening to me. We waste 8-10 possessions a game trying to get him hot when he's had a slow start and it makes no sense when he's like the 6th best offensive player on the team even on his best day.

Lamb is just frustrating to watch and I don't think his style meshes well with Carlisle's system at all. I'll be shocked if he finishes the season on the team. Not sure what you can get for him but even a second round pick and maybe a flyer on a deep bench guy is worth it.

There were so many looks we had tonight for either of those guys that would have been buckets if they were Doug McDermott and that's a very frustrating feeling to have.

100% on Doug McD call. I still like Holiday enough, but I was upset they essentially kept him and Lamb over McDermott. Neither of them provide much more defense, though Lamb can rebound. McDermott is a great player to have in just about any offense.

Sabonis’s issue is he gets rattled at certain points in the game. This is not his fault though, Brogdon is our point guard and he gets rattled during comebacks too. So if your starting PG can’t keep his cool during point swings, it makes everyone else nervous and they start to miss shots. I like Malcolm, but we need a starting PG who’s gonna get guys into their spots and run the offense efficiently under duress. Basically, a Chris Paul’ish type player.
