That didn't stop him from wanting out of Philly. If I'm the Pacers, I'd tell him whatever the plan is to build around him and to set the proper expectations for what to expect from the Pacers. It will take at least 1.5 full seasons ( up until the 2022-2023 Trade Deadline ) to turn over the roster to build around him. This would translate into at least 1 lost season since the roster would be in flux. If he's not fine with that, I'd pass.

Embiid is such an Alpha personality. I can see the possibility of Simmons doing better here. We don't have an established leader right now, even as articulated by the front office.

I do wish I had more confidence in the Pacer organizations ability to vette Simmons & his potential to commit to the program. They clearly didn't inspire confidence with the way they vetted Bjorkgren.

But as Cubs pointed out there is every chance the return on any future trade would very likely be on par with what is being discussed now.

Personally I am not hung up on any of those players being included
for all the reasons people have pointed out
After that it will play out and some big or two will be moved
The untouchables are the two rookies. That may sound odd because they are
rookies but they are the future
This poem speaks to me, though I don't fully agree. I like the spirit, and art is all about perception after all.

I'm not suggesting he would. I just think there is a better chance of him doing well with the kind of personalities we have rather than someone like Embiid.

Ultimately, the price is going down. I look at it this way: I like every guy on the team, but feel nothing for Caris really, since he's the least tenured returnee. I really enjoy cheering for Warren, J Holiday, TJM, Brogdon (still drives me crazy sometimes, but he's working with what he's got), Domas, Sumner (RIP), Myles, Goga (not enough time, but I like his ability/potential), and others, but these guys aren't good enough, AND they don't fit that well together. There needs to be a clear direction imo, and a guy like Simmons clearly forces the team to choose between a couple of fairly specific styles in this day and age, and he needs certain guys around him to be able to get the best out of him and the team.

So, since I like everyone already, adding a single possible dbag to the bunch doesn't kill me. I'd rather have one guy that may pleasantly surprise me than a bunch of guys that will only disappoint if I allow myself to have faith.

Can the Pacers even have a conversation with him before a trade ??

I may be wrong, but since it's in Philly's best interest to find a trade that's good for them, they wouldn't mind if teams speak with his representation, so that they feel okay to send a strong package for him. It only seems logical, but I could be way off there. Feels like I've heard of it before.

I understand that it shouldn't be allowed if we're talking about a Team that doesn't have a chance ( let's say the Lakers ) for fear of tampering and collusion.

But I would think that if Trade talks advance to the point where both sides are close to an agreement, that the Team that is interested could be allowed to talk to the Player to assess fit from a personnel POV. I would imagine that Philly would have to give permission to talk to the Player and Agent, but I don't see why it's unreasonable if not common for the prospective new Team to meet with the Player to gauge their interest in playing for the new team.

Maybe not him directly but should be able to discuss through his agent

If the trade is MB and LeVert, there better not be a first included unless top 20 protected and even then, blah.

I think we have the best ability to put the best package together on a deal for Simmons however everything I've read about Morey and the way operates, is hes going to continue to ask for the sun moon and stars. There's no way in hell I'm giving up 2 of Brogdon, Carris, Warren, PLUS 3 1st round draft picks and the right to swap 3 future picks!!!!!! As long as Morey continues to be delusional I see not even a percentage chance of a deal happening!
And with that reasoning I say screw Simmons and the sixers!

A team could ask the 76ers for permission to speak to Simmons, and permission can be given on a case-to-case basis. So they could allow the Pacers while blocking the Lakers if they so choose.
