    Indiana University Athletics Thread 2012-2013

It's the first day of September and the beginning of another year of IU sports. Time for a new thread to carry IU fans forward for what should be a very exciting year.

      Both are good possibilities.

All I can say about IU football's game last night was that they won, which is more than we can say about last season's opener. Hopefully they can get a road win at UMass next Saturday and make the season a success.

Looks like same old IU football wise - no ability to stop the run and unable to consistently run ourselves (not bad 1st half, but they stuffed us all 2nd half). Plus more Wilson head-scratch calls.
I'd rather die standing up than live on my knees.

Shakir Bell is running wild on the Hoosiers still can't believe dude didn't get D1 offers. He is so undersized but he is so skilled abd prodcuces his senior year at Warren he ran for more yards than anyone. I hope he gets his shot in the NFL in 2 years he is one tough SOB who knows how to play RB.
Yeah...he ran wild on the Hoosiers. Let's temper our NFL expectations.

...then again, p4e might not be alone on this island. Courtesy of Mel Kiper:

Kiper: I'm going with Shakir Bell, the running back for Indiana State. In fact, he should now officially get the "Darren Sproles comparison" label to start the year, for evaluators. At 5-foot-7½ and about 185 pounds, he's shifty and hard for defenses to find. And if you lose him, he'll explode into the secondary. He tore Indiana apart on Saturday with 24 carries for 194 yards, including a long TD run, and is the kind of smaller-program player who could play -- and well -- for any program in the country. He'll also work inside or out, and flat-out competes. A certain draft pick, his grade is rising on my board.

I'd feel more confident in IU ever getting close to average if:

                1) the roster wasn't totally devoid of talent, and

                2) if the team had anything resembling a head coach.

Coach Crean gave a long talk to Indiana students at IU Auditorium on Thursday night.

                  link: http://scoop.hoosiershq.com/2012/09/...ch/#more-20098

                  high points:

a freshman is likely to start (reading between the lines, Yogi).

                  most improved: Zeller, Sheehey, Oladipo.

Hampered by injury: Watford and freshman Hanner Mosquera-Perea.

Lots of praise for Cody. His role will expand and he will not be restricted to operating in the paint this year, because he can do so much more that makes him hard to defend.

The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!).

Why would Crean worry about expanding the role of the Cavs' rookie?
                    This is the darkest timeline.

Well so far recruits that I have heard coming to Hoosier Hysteria include Lyle, Anya and Alexander. Hopefully these guys all see each other and realize that they could be part of continuing something very special together.

Marcus Lee will be there as well, I believe.

God UMass is awful. Roberson might run for 300 yards at this rate. That being said, our run defense is equally as porous. I'm fairly certain they just ran the Annexation of Puerto Rico on us.

I would imagine opposing coaches don't even bother making running plays against us.

RB - "Coach is this play down the middle or to the right"
Coach - "It doesn't really matter, just have fun out there"
RB - "Coach, its Indiana, you know I'll have fun"
