Re: Indiana University Athletics Thread 2012-2013
Patterson was shown the door for his grades and we got criticized for not "giving him a chance" by some, and now apparently he is on academic probation for us? Uh...the guy is currently at a JUCO and is committed to go to Cuse next year.
As far as Hollowell, it might be related to academics, but we really don't know for sure, and he hasn't played a minute since whatever "it" is has come to light.
So, yes, the "truth"

Re: Indiana University Athletics Thread 2012-2013
Not one player on the IU team, Hollowell included, is having academic issues. My source will remain unnamed, but he is a current IU faculty member and former classmate of mine who works with the athletic department on student-athlete issues (he was a former athlete).
Hollowell's issue, I am told (and not from my faculty member friend who is mum on this issue, but from other boards) is some unintended contact on his part with someone he did not know to be an agent but that may in fact be considered to be an agent by the NCAA.
I'm not saying this is what happened, but lets say you see some guy you recognize as a friend of your family or a friend of your high school coach, and he has lunch with you at the Union and picks up the tab. Later you find out why he looked you up- he's a shoe guy, or with a firm of licensed agents. You just unknowingly let some low-life mess up your season when you thought you were just getting treated to a personal pan pizza by someone being nice. I think it's literally something like that. The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). Uh, the truth? Perea and Jurkin were suspended for some bumper stickers purchased before they were born. Not for academics.

Re: Indiana University Athletics Thread 2012-2013
not true, IMO
Patterson was never academically ineligible by NCAA guidelines, but did not meet the summer goals set for him bu IU. Coming off Sampson, we had to set higher goals than just getting by.
Without proof, I don't believe your Hollowell speculation even one bitLast edited by Slick Pinkham; 12-26-2012, 02:38 PM.The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). Re: Indiana University Athletics Thread 2012-2013
Patterson isn't at Syracuse. He is at a prep school in New Hampshire. He is part of Syracuse's 2013 recruiting class. I don't see why you are using that against IU--he didn't make the grades, so he got the boot. How is that a problem for us, exactly? And we would all love to see you furnish some proof that Hollowell is ineligible.Comment
