The odds weren't terrible for Purdue. Really, they still aren't. Wisconsin looks better than Purdue but they don't look like world beaters. If Purdue sneaks a win against them, as they've been known to win games they shouldn't in the Hope era (unfortunately the opposite is true also), they've still got a pretty good shot to get the chance to get blown out at Lucas Oil.
D'oh forgot about OSU being unable to participate this year. But that is still probably a loss on the schedule. Which is a little weird, seems a bit of a double standard to allow OSU to impact the record of post season eligible teams but not be able to be postseason eligible themselves.

no, but seriously: you can only go so far with a QB that can throw maybe 20 yards.

OSU is going to kill us. Miller is like Robinson only huge. I can't believe what they did to Nebraska's D.
Uh, I wasn't trying to be a jerk, but you have to admit the gun had been jumped a bit. I forgot about the whole OSU can't play in that game thing.

Unfortunately, I think Danny Hope may be the worst coach in America. Though I'm not even sure he's the worst Big Ten coach in the state.

Trying to be a fan of college football in Indiana sucks right now.

Unless you wanna cheer for Notre Dame. Sucks to watch that program **** all over their tradition. Remember the helmet painting scene in Rudy? How about those hideous damn things they were wearing in Chicago this weekend. It's one thing to see a program like Oregon be gimmicky with their unis, it's quite another to watch Notre Dame do it.

They were ugly, but they are just staying "current." Recruits like those crazy uniforms, they do it once a year to charge up some energy for these Shamrock Series games...I don't see the big issue. As long as leprechaun doesn't start showing up regularly on their uniforms, I'm fine with their once a year abominations.

Goodbye Danny Hope. Cant recruit. Cant coach. Get out!

Highlight of the day ( and the point i turned the game off ) was 3rd and 6, we need a TD to not let this game get out of hand. Hope calls for a QB run up the middle.

Caleb Terbush is one of the slowest QB's i've seen in college football, for the love of God, why are we letting him run the ball 10 times a game. Can someone f'ing explain that too me please? What in the hell is going on here?

Hope's been a solid recruiter. Better than Tiller. The difference is obviously the coaching abilities.

I honestly don't know, far too young to pay any attention to recruiting then. Tiller also benefited from bringing the spread to a conference that'd basically never seen anything close to it before, we saw that in his later years when the conference was catching up (and the QBs got worse).

The absolute last complaint I have about Hope is his recruiting, it's about the only positive I can come up with him. This is a pretty talented team. Short, Allen, Gaston, Josh Johnson, Shavers, Hunt, Ross, Edison (I think), those guys all came to Purdue to play for Danny Hope. He's gotten a 4 star QB in of the last 2 recruiting classes. He's killed it recruiting Florida. It's inevitable Hope's sticking around through at least next year, and I'm hoping Austin Appelby's all he's cracked up to be.

I also want to note that the school spends basically crap on football. I don't know if the extension gave him a raise but he's gotta be in the bottom 2 or 3 of the conference for salary. The combined salaries of the assistants are dead last in the conference. We all remember the Painter to Mizzou kerfuffle and how Painter demanded Burke give him a recruiting budget that didn't have him paying for rental cars out of pocket, I've got to imagine it's the same situation with the football program. Purdue athletics being completely self funded and finishing in the black every year is certainly commendable, but you get what you pay for.

so James Blackmon, who's committed to IU, is apparently at Mackey for the Midnight Madness thing right now...

^ he better be careful or they'll put him in a quantum physics class for summer school.

i hope this gets bumped as a bad post tomorrow, but if I were a betting man, I would put $$$ on Wisconsin + 2.5. That line seems insane to me.
