No one could guard Burke down the stretch which killed us. And that one rebound, that wasn't would have helped

Burke doesn't go into potential Wooden winner (he won't, but he'll get some votes) mode in the last 10 minutes or so with a bit of help from Stauskas Purdue wins that game fairly convincingly, double digits. It's hard to ever say you're content with a loss, but that's easily my least disappointing one of the year.

Hope Sandi's ankle's ok. I can't believe I'm typing this, but him rolling his ankle was a pretty big turning point. Hammons had a few minute stretch that reminded you how talented he is, but quickly faded into the background again. Terone Johnson clearly had a great game, but I don't know, it felt a helluva lot more like Michigan just being terrible defensively than him actually killing it. Ray Davis played really well too, I like that kid's game so much, I'm excited to see his next 3 years. Also, Michigan just doesn't impress me at all, despite their record. Them getting bounced the first weekend wouldn't surprise me at all.

interview with Hazell, dual QB "system" is dead!

The early morning tire-flipping and wheelbarrow races are winding down in West Lafayette. After a spirited winter program, Purdue is set to return to the practice field March 19 for its first workout under new head coach Darrell Hazell.

I'd rather have one guy. You want one guy in there who feels like he's comfortable and doesn't have to look over his shoulder. He can do his thing and not have to worry about messing up. But you also need a second guy to be ready, just in case that [first] guy goes down.

That's a huge sigh of relief if I am a Boiler fan. That dual QB thing Hope did was maddening.

Austin Parkinson wins Conference COY for IUPUI women:
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League announced its women’s basketball all-league awards in an afternoon press conference on Thursday at Sioux Falls Arena in Sioux Falls, S.D., and the Jaguars had three players take home all-conference awards in addition to head coach Austin Parkinson being named the Summit League Coach of the Year.

I did not know he was there. Glad to see he is good at something to do with basketball

Womens team won the Big Ten Tourney for the 9th time in what, 15 years? Not bad.

Ohio State's win today gives the men the 7 seed, play Nebraska then Ohio State 2nd round with a win. Helluva lot better than getting the 8/9 game and getting IU in the 2nd.

It's been a tough season for your basketball team, but hat's off to Matt Painter for getting this team to play hard after they could have packed it in after their embarrassing swoon a few weeks ago. Having the stones to bench Hammons was key, and you guys have built some nice momentum going into next year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Purdue finish in the top 4 or 5 of the Big Ten next year.

I will admit, I didn't think there was any chance of this team coming back after that 2nd beat down by Indiana.

It was a miserable season for the most part. I said Painter should have been embarrassed for the lack of effort his team gave, and he should have been, but he also can be very proud with the way they didn't pack it in down the stretch. Too bad it's too little, too late, but when you're relying on so much youth, I guess inconsistency is understandable. The future isn't nearly as bleak as it looked in February.
