Re: Purdue 2012-2013 Athletics thread
I don't mean to be negative, and I would probably pay like $15 to go, but how many of our players are actually worth paying to see? Hammons, maybe Lawson on a good day. Other than that, it is like watching slightly taller dudes playing mediocre pick-up ball.Comment

Won't disagree with that. We have no offense and I can usually appreciate our D, but we aren't even playing that well.Comment

Re: Purdue 2012-2013 Athletics thread
looking good so far...that pass to Davis under the basket was the most skilled thing Tacos has ever done I think...
edit: doing horrible job of getting ajh the ball. I would be so frustrated if I was him.
edit 2: Ronnie Johnson got a long way to go. Very low BBIQ for a PG.Last edited by dal9; 01-02-2013, 11:33 PM.Comment

Re: Purdue 2012-2013 Athletics thread
After about Illinois' 8th missed 3 in crunch time it was taking all my composure to remain in my chair and not fall out of it laughing. Holy crap is that offense going to get blown up in the B1G this year.

Terone Johnson had Brandon Paul shook there for awhile, glad to see it. One of the upperclassmen needs to step up and show all the kids how to win.
I go from hating Byrd to him pulling stuff out of his *** like those last two plays last night and I'm back in Montgomery County love again.
A lot of people were saying "live by the 3 die by the 3" stuff immediately after the game, which is true, but Illinois actually shot better from 3 than their season average. They just have NOTHING in the post and they really can't defend. Good to see Lawson have a pretty nice game too, thought he might end up getting stuck on the bench and looking elsewhere this summer.
Anyway, not gonna change my season expectations or anything, but it certainly felt good. Go up to the Breslin Center and give State a game at least and maybe we got somethin going.Comment

Re: Purdue 2012-2013 Athletics thread
It's not so much live by 3 die by 3 with me and Illinois though they do shoot a lot. They are a terrible rebounding team and also a really bad passing team, and one of the underrated things you need in the B1G to survive is a disciplined passing system in the offense at the very least that can get you some easy buckets. About they only way Illinois does get those easy looks right now is from beyond the arc and that's just a little too inconsistent IMO. They will get hot and beat teams this year, but I think Illinois is still very much a .500 team in this conference.
EDIT: Their FG% on the season is also really bad.

Trevon Blueitt was apparently at the game last night. Thought that was pretty much dead but his recruitment's been pretty hush hush.Comment
