Zeller barely played in the first half due to foul trouble. He needs to get involved in the second half.

Watford is snagging every rebound. I love this team. Even if we lose (which I still expect we will), I'm glad they didn't roll over and die.

Watford loves big games. Him and Verdell are carrying us.

Back to missing shots and turning the ball over.

It's about time to start the three-point barrage.

MSU is really good. Their defense opens up their offense.

Like I said before, you have to hit your shots and protect the ball to beat them. Just way too many turnovers tonight.

Time to regroup and beat a (hopefully) Sullingerless OSU.

Elston, Hulls and Zeller were horrible tonight. Beyond horrible. I have a lot of angry thoughts, but those three hurt IU's chances the most.

Zeller needs to skip the showers and hit the weights.

Re: Indiana University Athletics Thread 2011-2012

Let me elaborate on a few points...

                            1. Zeller was just not there. At all. Either end of the court. I know he's a freshman, but he didn't even look interested. Too much ball-watching, no battling. Inexcusable.

                            2. Elston...I mean, you know Crean just said take a seat, you're done. Laughably bad shots, turnovers. Kid hasn't improved since his freshman year.

                            3. Hulls wasn't there mentally at all. Don't know what the deal is, but he seemed to have zero focus. For all the *****ing he does at other players, he needs to take a look in the mirror tonight. What bothers me about Hulls is that you concede that he can't defend at all and will get taken on every drive, so if he can't hit open shots, he has zero use on the court.

                            4. This team really got in trouble at a few points. One was when MSU figured that they could do whatever they wanted inside with Zeller so weak and Pritchard so incredibly slow.

                            5. The second was when Verdell Jones III decided to take it upon himself to make plays. Made horrible decisions, drove and didn't kick out, sloppy handles, bad shots. What we've come to expect. He needed to defer to Watford or Oladipo, but he took it upon himself, and it led to bad possession after bad possession.

                            6. Not having Sheehey really hurt, mostly on the defensive end, where IU's guards just couldn't match up with MSU's guards.

Expected loss for a young team, but Crean should kick their *** after that one, really. They could have won, but they got soft and played stupid basketball. I don't give the young excuse there because the talent is clearly there. But the effort, intensity and intelligence has to follow suit.

So much for that defensive improvement. We ****ing fell apart down the stretch.

Now they know the difference in opponent quality and what NOT to do. The next few practices will not be nice.

"But, first, let us now praise famous moments, because something happened Tuesday night in Indianapolis that you can watch a lifetime’s worth of professional basketball and never see again. There was a brief, and very decisive, and altogether unprecedented, outburst of genuine officiating, and it was directed at the best player in the world, and that, my dear young person, simply is not done."
