I also love the idea that an apocalypic age is set in the past, a romanticized period at that, rather than the future. Great commentary on how modernity's progress and learning destroyed our connection to nature.

Anyway with the line about writing poetry in blood is, I think, a reflection on how in the modern world violence is called beauty, destrution called progress...

Re: What movie did you last watch?

I just now got around to watching Meet the Fockers.

I have no idea what that means for my social life or taste in movies, but it can't be good.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

For what it is worth the last movie I saw was Anchorman.

Wedding Crashers. It was one of the funnier things that I have seen recently. Some that I will probably buy to watch on a rainy day.

Re: What movie did you last watch?

I've seen a butt load of movies while I am on vacation but I just walked out of a movie that I wish all of you could see.

                  The Great Raid.

It's by Mirimax, which had me worried because I fully expected some form of anti-American diatribe in it but thankfully my worries were unfounded.

It showed the brutality that POW's suffered at the hands of Japanese troops & showed the bravery of the Philippino resistance fighters.

From a movie standpoint it had flaws but I loved the story.

What constitutes an anti-American diatribe? Because if it's holding a mirror up to the all consuming corruption of those drunk with righteousness and blind patriotic furor, who wouldn't recognize the common good if it ***** slapped them on a Monday morning, then I'm all for that sort of disillusioning examination.

Finally saw War of the Worlds over the weekend, enjoyed it immensely. Now that is how you make a disaster movie.

Also rented Million Dollar Baby, which was even better. I couldn't go three for three, however, as I watched The Pacifier to round out the trio. Terrible movie.

This wouldn't be the movie for you then.
