Yes but... the fact the Colts were out of timeouts kind of made it extra questionable considering the score. The Colts didn't 'need' to score a TD then and there. 3 points would've been fine. Had there been time to get the first down, call a timeout, and have a couple more cracks at the endzone and maybe STILL kept the idea of a FG alive, my thinking would've been different.
Essentially, the clock dictated all the Colts could do was go for a TD on that 4th and inches.Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

Madden football can be fun but in the real world, these gambles have bigger ramifications. This could've been a tied game. Now the Colts trail.
That's a huge difference.Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

I thought about that when I wrote it... In the real world there is money on the line. Not just the salaries of players and coaches but all the money that goes into crowd support (everything from parking to security to concession workers to everything a city/state does for a team). It's not just the rah rah or sadness of the moment. Loss of fan support (read: loss of ticket sales/merch sales) has a butterfly effect that is pretty big. Could also be things like player/team confidence that can be impacted that also snowballs.
A couple of kids playing riverboat gambler on plays in Madden doesn't have those real-world tentacles.Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

You got that right. I was shaking my head at that one. All that time on the clock. He could've made it a one point game and not only put a bunch more pressure on the Colts, but also not risked the deflation of no points for his team nor giving the Colts momentum.
AND given his team the chance to only need a FG to win. Which is both mentally helpful for his own team as well as extra pressure for the Colts.
It's like teams no longer think of the mental/human factor of a game, except in how great it would be if they could score 7 instead of 3.
I'm surprised some team doesn't start going for 2 on every TD because 8 is better than 7...
I'm glad he went for it, but I don't get it.Last edited by Bball; 10-08-2023, 06:50 PM.Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

I do have to wonder, when is it time to get concerned about Richardson's inability to stay on the field? Am I remembering right that he has only played one complete game and been knocked out of 4 out of 5 games. True, one of those was at the very end of the game in the closing minute or so. And one was completely missed due to the concussion that put him out of the prior game.
But still... 1 full game out of 5 is concerning.
Next question: Is Minshew going to be able to maintain wins if AR keeps missing games (or parts of games) or will he fall back to earth a bit? Mr. Obvious says that if AR can't stay on the field, it's imperative that the Colts have a starting level backup on the roster...Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. Rapoport says the Colts expect Richardson to miss a month or more.
Richardson oozes star potential when he’s out there, but obviously this is a concerning start to his career.
Thankfully we have the best backup QB in the NFL and seem well coached, but it’s just a shame that Richardson can’t get in any sort of groove.Comment

Return to activities — Patients with a type III injury may return to normal activities between six and twelve weeks following injury, when full range of motion and strength are regained. Some people return to activity sooner or later, depending upon the demands of the specific activity.
This seems to align with at least out 5 weeks, because it would be allowing for the best possible outcome, and the 'some people return to activity sooner..." line.
But it's also looking like an unlikely scenario considering the reality of the situation.Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson was placed on injured reserve Wednesday morning, meaning he'll miss at least the next four games with a right shoulder injury.
Richardson sustained an AC joint sprain in Sunday's win over the Titans. The team has been doing extensive consultation with doctors to determine the length of Richardson's absence and now believes he will miss between four and eight weeks depending on his rehab and whether surgery is required, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.
