    Colts 2021 Season thread

Preseason done, on to the 'real' games.

Let's start the season off in an all too familiar way:

Report: Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton to miss "multiple" weeks with neck injury - ProFootballTalk (nbcsports.com)

The Colts recently have gotten good news regarding some key injured players. They now have some bad news.

Via TheAthletic.com, receiver T.Y. Hilton is expected to miss โ€œmultipleโ€ weeks due to a neck injury. Per the report, the injury is not believed to be season ending.
At least the Colts seem to have a decent supply of receivers on the roster. But anyways -- on to the games that count.

    Enjoy.

TY being out is kind of a "meh" for me at this point. Whether it was just the chemistry between he and Luck, or the timing of TY's peak, both seem to be in the rear view mirror at this point.
Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

Not good about TY, but, agreed, not as painful as it would have been once. The COVID thing (which I posted about in the COVID) thread seems like more of a concern. I know we have relatively low vax rates. In addition to Wentz, Nelson and Kelly are (or were) on there already. Leonard is rumored to not have vax. Things could really devolve quickly if guys keep shuffling on that list once season starts.

I'm not sure the Colts have a leadership hierarchy that would supplant the starting QB if he was anti-vax. So, if Wentz is anti-vax, it's likely filtering down.
Meanwhile, you don't have to get sick to get on the quarantine list. You just have to be around a positive case.
It's not even like it happens for 5-10 days, and now you've had it so it won't happen again because you've already had it. It's just a contact... he could not get it this time, and then have another contact and lose another several days. And so could the ones he contacts. That could happen all season. In and out of the lineup for several.
Just one more thing to worry about in a league where depth and consistency matter so much. And, we're not truly sure what we have anyway. Wentz is a wildcard with no preseason. We think we have receiver depth, even without TY. The line is being tweaked. And yet... here we are. Added questions as we stare down opening day.

Wentz is most likely waiting until he signs a new deal with the Colts to get Vaxed. Think about it, if you put up good numbers this year and then get a contract extension making north of $30million a year with a huge guaranteed amount. There is always a small chance that he gets the vaccine and has a very bad adverse reaction to it and puts him out of commission for most the season. Then no new deal with the Colts.

dude any chance of a bad reaction (can recall 0 examples from athletes) is infinitesimal compared to the chances he keeps getting quarantined and plays like 8 games. then where's his extension. i guess i'm saying your point makes no sense.

Of course it makes no sense. But that is the reasoning a vast majority of the people are giving for not getting the vaccines. They all think its too new and not tested or researched enough and they think they are gonna get permanently sick from it. So you apply that logic to a professional football player one year away from a new deal, and that has to be in his mind.

How does Tampa get to 100% (players & coaches), yet here the Colts are with the lowest in the league ?? (I think there's a Brady-factor in there somewhere).

Colts can go 0-17 for all I care at this point.
