Demariyus Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders are better. Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson are better. Megatron and Golden Tate are better. Aj Green and Sanu, is probably better bc their number one is so damn good. When he gets healthy, I think Victor Cruz and Becham Jr may be better as well for the same reason.

You must not have watched Johnson last year.

It's cool that Andre Johnson will finish his career here.

Many players have left the Colts(Marshall Faulk comes to mind same with John Elway although he was here for like a day) and they aren't always treated like kings either they get dumped like everyone else when they are no longer useful like every other team.

Andre will share the same fate if he doesn't produce because unlike the others he didn't start his career here. Difference is nobody will care as much.

The Colts now are a well run organization but it wasn't always like that either or will remain that way.

I get being excited but the OTT reactions of this fanbase thinking we should book our trips to Santa Clara and nobody has it better than the Colts is a bit much.

I watched Johnson last year, and ya he's 33 years old... but you also gotta remember who was chuckin the ball last year in Houston. Not that I think Johnson is going to have a Randy Moss-type revival, but Randy Moss was looking fairly mortal when he had Andrew Walter throwing to him in Oakland before he went to NE.

Yes, John Elway weaseled his way out over 30 years ago when the Colts weren't even in Indianapolis, and Faulk left 16 years ago after Manning's rookie year when we were a 3-13 team. Both of those are beyond ancient history. Since then, the Colts have become one of the most elite franchises in the NFL. All of the big names that we have parted ways with in recent years had to be forced out by the team because they didn't want to leave.

I don't see anyone on here booking a trip to Santa Clara. Everyone knows that the Colts have massive work to do if they want to even have a prayer of beating the Pats. But the Colts are pretty scary right now and I'd certainly take them over everyone else in the AFC.

Yeah, just two years ago he had a 1400 yard season. Not saying that he will get anywhere near that this year, but with a great quarterback I definitely think he will get over 1000 yards.

That is true. And he still has value as a possession receiver. But he's no longer gaining any separation from DB's. If it wasn't for his 10 catch, 138 yd game against the Jags in week 17 - his production was rather pedestrian. That was his first 100 yd game of the season, and it still didn't bring him to 1,000 yds. With what he's getting paid, that should be a given (unless he's getting a lot of TD's)

I will say he's not at all far removed from having 1400 and 1500 yd seasons. But as the Colts have seen with their own - when receivers lose it, they lose it quick. He will be 34 by the time the season starts. It should be interesting.

Even though the money is a higher than I thought the Colt's needed to spend on this position the Grigson bet on A.J. could still pay some pretty big returns. The speed may not be what it once was but with his physicality he will win more than his share of battles with the 50/50 balls (huge benefit come the playoffs). Hilton will basically handle the role of stretching the field and hopefully Johnson can be dependable moving the chains.

This season's security blanket for Andrew and vet teacher for Moncrief and Carter. I expect really good things from Johnson coming in with a chip on his shoulder.

I disagree with this notion. First there is a difference between losing it because of injury and losing it because you are just older. Secondly I do not think a single season of poor play after, or in the case of Reggie while, injured is proof of anything. It is year 2 that tends to be more telling when it comes to injuries than year 1. As well with Reggie he was still playing great prior to the torn tricep. If that injury did not happen I have little doubt Wayne never would have looked washed up.

The way I view it is this: Last year, he finally got to the point where he was unable to overcome his putrid QB play and be one of the best receivers in the league like he had for all of those prior years. He was so great for so long that anyone with an arm could toss balls up that he could make a play for and rake up 1400-1500 yard seasons. He's probably not that receiver anymore. But with a QB like Luck, I think he is absolutely a receiver who could still easily have an 1100 yard season. Having a great quarterback for once will make up for some of what he has lost due to age.

Quite a few receivers have had great seasons at age 34 - Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, TO, Tim Brown, to name a few. It's after age 35 where very few receivers produce. The Colts are well aware of this and it's why they had no interest in rostering Wayne for his age 37 season. There's a massive difference between 34 and 37 when you're a receiver.

I think Andre *could* be a 1000+ yard receiver here BUT... the reality is, Luck has so many weapons to spread the ball around, he could likely only have 700-800, and that would be no knock on him. Allen and Fleener could get 500+ each, TY is in the 1,000 club, Moncrief could be in the 500 club... it adds up. there's only so much ball to go around. The only way I could see Andre come here and have a monster stat year is if Luck becomes the first QB to get 60 TDs and 6,000 yards.... it's going to happen eventually, people, I'm calling it now. Maybe not this year, but it will happen.

I don't think Andre will be a yards guy in the offense. He will be a move the chains/red zone TD guy. I could see around 50 yards per game with around 10 TD's. 70ish receptions

Not necessarily PD I'm referring to but Colts fans in general I've been around that think this is an automatic trip to the SB. How many times have we seen other teams do this and end up falling flat on their faces? Vegas getting in on it as well.

While I think the Colts will win their division and maybe a playoff game or two I don't think it means an automatic SB trip either.

I just hope there are fans who will realize these things take time I just think the new generation of Colts fans aren't that patient and don't realize how hard it truly is.

It makes sense for the Colts to be the Vegas favorites when you look at the other contending teams. NE has a QB at the end of his career, and eventually Brady's skills will regress. Also, NE has lost key players from their defense. On paper, they have gotten worse. Seattle looks to be very good, but it has been over 20 years since an NFL team has made 3 SB's in a row. Statistically, and historically speaking, Seattle is a long shot to make another SB next season. Denver has a broken down, rusty, used car for their QB. Dallas lost one of their best players in Murray. GB should also be a heavy Las Vegas favorite along with the Colts
