Re: Colts vs Pats AFC Title Game

Still need to see the full investigation to say there's proof the Pats are the ones that did it. Balls being deflated a bit can happen because of weather. I assume they tested the Colts balls as well, wonder how those turned out.

nothing official yet but apparently a report is coming out that the pats used 11 under-inflated balls.

In an interview with WEEI in November 2011, Brady talked about how the football deflates when tight end Rob Gronkowski spikes it after scoring a touchdown.
“But when Gronk scores – it was like his eighth touchdown of the year – he spikes the ball and he deflates the ball. I love that, because I like the deflated ball. But I feel bad for that football, because he puts everything he can into those spikes,” Brady said at the time.

Footballs leak sometimes too. That is why they have 12 of them to use. One is bad, they throw it out.
1.) Jackson's pick was in the first half, which was when such deflation was noticed, so not sure how 2nd half temperature is relevant.

2.) How about 11/12 of them?

I will not delude myself so far to believe to any degree that the Colt's had a chance of winning this game whether they were playing with deflated, standard inflation, meatballs, etc. but it is very frustrating to see a team with so much success continually cheat. It's ridiculous.

I find it a bit ironic that the two teams most notorious for cheating are named the Saints and the Patriots.

I think it's a pathology at this point for Belichick.

I would think this would mean the entire team's in on it, right? Surely every Patriot who touched one of the under-inflated balls would have been able to tell?

Not to mention, if temp had something to do with it, the footballs on the Colts sidelines would also have deflated. Unless we're to believe that it was colder on the Pats half of the field.

Re: Colts vs Pats AFC Title Game

Each team gets to use its own 12 footballs so the balls used by the pats on offense are not the same used by the colts. That's why Jacksons interception started the cascade pf events because the colts had possession of the pats football.

Tim Hasslebeck tweeted earlier that most refs, players, etc wouldn't have noticed. I'm not so sure about that. I'm no NFL player, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that when you grab the ball, it feels flat. Sitting by itself on the floor or something, you might not be able to tell, but when you grab it and feel the leather give? I'd be amazed if people who regularly handle footballs wouldn't notice.

Re: Colts vs Pats AFC Title Game

Refs tested each of the Pat's balls at halftime, they were found to be underinflated. So I assume they were changed out or inflated properly at halftime.

This would also explain that weird delay at the beginning of the 3rd quarter where they switched out the balls. Maybe they were making sure they were accurately inflated before bringing them into the game.

Or maybe the refs were in on it also and the 12th ball somehow made it into play.

The mental gymnastics mentioned earlier are in full swing by Pats fans on social media. Ranging from "it was the refs' fault for not noticing earlier" to "you hate us cuz you ain't us!"
