Pacers to bring back Frank Vogel

Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel will return for a fifth season with the team, sources confirmed.

Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel will return for a fifth season with the team, sources confirmed.
After a fantastic start, the Pacers were just 23-19 in the second half of the season and were in danger of being upset by the No. 8 seed Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the playoffs, leading to speculation that Vogel's job may be in jeopardy.
Vogel, who is known for being a steadying force who supports his players and sticks to his strategies, was able to right the team as it rallied to reach the conference finals.
Vogel has led the Pacers to back-to-back appearances in the Eastern Conference finals, losing to the Miami Heat both times, including a 4-2 series loss this season that concluded with a 117-92 defeat Friday night.
He signed a contract extension in 2013 that carries through the 2014-15 season.
Since taking over in the middle of the 2010-11 season, Vogel is 167-100 in the regular season and 28-26 in the playoffs.
Yahoo! Sports first reported that Pacers management planned to bring back Vogel next season.

I know people are mad at the guy, but this is the right move. You don't let a coach go with his record of success.

Give him a offensively-minded assistant coach. That's what he needs.

The smart, logical, and rational move to make. I was never remotely concerned about Vogel's job safety after we advanced past the first round.

Amazingly, it's almost always the coaches who most preach loyalty and character involved in this too.

Here's something I've never seen worse in NBA than it is now: Unemployed coaches shamelessly in pursuit of jobs that are already filled.

I think we know where some of those rumors came from now....

Something is going to have to change.

I like Frank, but wouldn't be mad if he was let go. There have to be changes somewhere obviously. The vote of confidence from the article above is meaningless IMO. It is pretty much standard procedure for teams to come out and say these sorts of things only to turn around and fire or trade a guy later down the road

Like replacing Nate McMillan (I would be more surprised if he wasn't in the mix for some of these openings) or Popeye with someone who knows offense....

Am glad to see the FO has the decency to not make Frank the scapegoat.

Bring in Mike D'Antoni no joke.

He would do wonders for this offense.

Thats a little too much of an extreme...

Well...that was fast. I wonder who will be the first player to get the vote of confidence?

I get the feeling TPTB are seeing this season as an abberation and there will be few (if any) changes made to the core. It will be interesting to see if Frank is offered an extension or if they will let him coach as a lame duck in the last year of his contract.

It would be cheaper and just as effective to dress someone up in the Pringles guy costume over hiring D'Antoni in any capacity.

Why?? If you let him focus on offense, we will be fine.
