Re: Offseason News, Trades, Rumors, Etc.

Houston gets a future first from the Pellies and sends 1.5 mil to NO, I assume so they can buy a couple bums out and get just enough cap room to make it work

That's a big step to making space for Melo.

forget what it does for Houston, Davis gets freed up to roam more on defense. DPOY and MVP votes incoming.

LOL...i always thought that the Pelicans would have to give up Anderson to get Asik....now they just had to wait it out and get him for a future 1st. Brilliant!

I love the Chandler trade for the Mavs... after that trade is done, I believe the Mavs have about $26M in cap space, realistically, this summer. If they can do a salary dump on Wright (who flat out cannot play center/next to Dirk), that gives them about $30M. Figure Dirk signs for about $10M (less if they have the chance at two marquee free agents), that leaves $20M to split between Vince Carter/Devin Harris -- two guys I absolutely should be back -- and guys like PJ Tucker (who I really want), Lowry, Deng, Gasol, or even some long-shot guys like LeBron or Melo. My preference would be to use whatever cap space is left after Dirk/Vince/Harris on 2-3 players instead of one, but honestly I wouldn't be opposed to getting a max-type player.

Chandler has some huge injury concerns, but he did last time Dallas traded for him, and I have a lot of faith in the Mavs' training staff's ability to keep him on the court. Add a couple more rotation-quality defensive players and this Mavs squad could get really salty next season... maybe even good enough to trump whatever huge moves the Rockets are looking poised to make.

                  AD/Asik/Anderson/Smith/Withey is a hell of a frontcourt.

I agree, things look good for Dallas. I'd love to see them make one more run out West while Dirk still has some game left.

I would rather have Lowry and Deng/Ariza rather than spending 18 million on Carmelo.

I wonder if Houston will actually be able to move Lin....i'm betting on no.

If Dallas were smart, they'd make sure to get Deng. He would be a great player for RC. Dallas just thrives on these team player systems like the spurs. Somebody like Melo would just screw it all up there.

Speculation on Espn is that Houston will throw in the pick for N.O. in a package to move Lin.
Why do teams tank? Ask a Spurs fan.

Philly moves MCW, acquires Lin and his expiring deal with the pick for a 2nd rounder, Sam Hinkie becomes honorary draft emcee.
