    Re: Granger traded to Philly

Evan Turner is a restricted free agent, so the Pacers can match any offer if they want.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

I hate that we traded him to the worst team in the league, but what in the god damn hell are the Sixers thinking?

We weren't going to be under the cap, so I don't think cap hold affects anything for us (I don't think cap hold determines if you have to use the taxpayer MLE vs. the regular MLE)

Or throw in a first-round pick and flip it for a max-level point guard...

As others have said, this could very well be your Lance replacement if offers get out of hand. Interesting move. I prefer to think in terms of this year, and I think this helps us. I defended Granger but it's pretty clear he wasn't going to help this team win a title. Turner is better.

That's 16 players, someone getting cut?
Garbage players get 1st round picks, (WTF)! All of the NBA must hate the Pacers! LOL

I feel bad for Granger but this definitely is a good move.

We would just have to renounce our rights to Turner as a restricted free agent, otherwise that money is tied up and we couldn't sign Lance to his new contract. Not a major issue, just a note.

Somebody from the Pacers has to be added to fit the roster, I assume it would be OJ or Rasual...would suck for Butler as well if he's added, I'm sure he'd be bought out.

I grew up with Evan Turner, he was one of my best friends in elementary/junior high school.

He was frustrated in Philadelphia, but is a really hard worker who prides himself in being a good defender and has always been a winner. I feel bad we traded Danny, but Evan is going to play really hard and smart for us. He fits so well with our identity.

I don't know what Philly gets out of this deal aside from more tanking. There is literally zero downside for the pacers here.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

                            That's kinda disappointing.

Ignoring the emotional attachment to Granger......this all depends on what else was given up for Turner.

I hope it's nothing more than one of the 2nd round picks.

Let's call a spade a spade. The pacers have been crap since he came back. He doesn't fit and he can't play anymore.
I wouldn't say crap, but maybe crap by the standards they have set this year.

He clearly wasn't producing much. Averaging 8 points and Butler is more automatic behind the 3 point line than Danny, which was basically all Danny was being used for so far
