Re: 2/7/2014 Game Thread #49: Pacers Vs. Blazers
That's because Lillard has shot almost twice as much as Hill (13 shots versus 7) and Hill is shooting a higher percentage.Originally posted by IrishPacer

Re: 2/7/2014 Game Thread #49: Pacers Vs. Blazers
I mean, isn't that kind of the implication when you say someone is getting "killed" defensively? Tip of the cap to Lillard--he's just a really, really good scorer. When good scorers have their shots falling like his are, there really isn't much the defender can do.Comment

Hopefully that's not a sign of things to come with PG vs. Lillard because I'm sure Frank will eventually put Paul on him if he keeps going off like he did in the first half

It seems the rest of the league has figured out PG. His value will never be higher and the trade deadline is only a couple weeks away.....just sayingComment

Shouldn't surprise anyone at this point though. He has been like that all season long and dude can't miss a shot. As I said at the start of the thread that fade away favourite move of his is so hard yet he makes it look so easy. Top, top player.Comment

Re: 2/7/2014 Game Thread #49: Pacers Vs. Blazers
Why wait til the 2nd half to do that? Is it cuz he will get tired?
I'd live with GH defending Wesley Matthews on the perimeter and put PG24 on Lillard for the entire game.Ash from Army of Darkness: Good...Bad...I'm the guy with the gun.Comment

Start collecting some rebounds fellas. We are behind by 10 and that department is certainly something we take pride in.
Of course there will not be so many opportunities for rebound if Lillard keeps going off like tonight.Comment

Hopefully their shot making falls to Earth a bit in the second half. I don't think we're in a bad spot. PG needs to step up. Roy too. But George has been great.
Considering no Lance and their early shooting, we're lucky to be down just 5. We can beat these guys.Comment

Aldridge has been deadly all year. He's a big time scorer now. Someone said he may be the 3rd best PF. I disagree and have for awhile. He's not only the best PF he's the best big man in the NBA.Comment

Re: 2/7/2014 Game Thread #49: Pacers Vs. Blazers
Ok, let's comment on the first half a bit.
1) We're losing the rebounding battle by 10 boards (25 to 15). They have 7 offensive boards and we don't have any. We really miss Lance's aggressive rebounding in that department.
2) We're actually shooting better than them (45.9% versus 42.9%) but we're losing by five. Why? They have attempted 49 shots and we have attempted 37. Why is that, you ask? It purely has to do with the above point about rebounding. Heck, we have less turnovers than them but they still have a lot more possessions than we do.
3) Paul George and Roy Hibbert have to step it up. Now, both of them have been good defensively which is great. The issue is that they have combined for 8 points in 3/12 shooting and 1 rebound. Yes, PG and Roy only have 1 board combined. PG has 1 board while Roy is at zero. I'm usually not one to ***** about a player's rebound in a game but we need help tonight in that department.
4) Please, think about cross-matching when Scola and Aldridge are both in the game.
5) Lillard is taking advantage of our PnR coverage. Our bigs do not step out to contest mid-range jumpers when Hill is fighting through the big's screen and that's when Lillard pulls up for the J.
6) The Blazers are one of the best teams at shooting that mid-range jumper and they are beating us with this shot. That's the same shot that our D is designed to give up. We don't match up well with them, that's for sure. The thing is that if we keep giving them their favorite shot then they will hit it at a good rate. We have to take them out of their comfort zone.
7) The team needs to do something to get the fans into the game. We really need their energy tonight.
8) Attack Aldridge with West in the post. Wear him down on the other end and he could start missing some shots.
9) Danny in the post worked. Let's not abandon it.Originally posted by IrishPacer
