The Rules of Pacers Digest

Hello everyone,

Whether your are a long standing forum member or whether you have just registered today, it's a good idea to read and review the rules below so that you have a very good idea of what to expect when you come to Pacers Digest.

A quick note to new members: Your posts will not immediately show up when you make them. An administrator has to approve at least your first post before the forum software will later upgrade your account to the status of a fully-registered member. This usually happens within a couple of hours or so after your post(s) is/are approved, so you may need to be a little patient at first.

Why do we do this? So that it's more difficult for spammers (be they human or robot) to post, and so users who are banned cannot immediately re-register and start dousing people with verbal flames.

Below are the rules of Pacers Digest. After you have read them, you will have a very good sense of where we are coming from, what we expect, what we don't want to see, and how we react to things.

Rule #1

Pacers Digest is intended to be a place to discuss basketball without having to deal with the kinds of behaviors or attitudes that distract people from sticking with the discussion of the topics at hand. These unwanted distractions can come in many forms, and admittedly it can sometimes be tricky to pin down each and every kind that can rear its ugly head, but we feel that the following examples and explanations cover at least a good portion of that ground and should at least give people a pretty good idea of the kinds of things we actively discourage:

"Anyone who __________ is a liar / a fool / an idiot / a blind homer / has their head buried in the sand / a blind hater / doesn't know basketball / doesn't watch the games"

"People with intelligence will agree with me when I say that __________"

"Only stupid people think / believe / do ___________"

"I can't wait to hear something from PosterX when he/she sees that **insert a given incident or current event that will have probably upset or disappointed PosterX here**"

"He/she is just delusional"

"This thread is stupid / worthless / embarrassing"

"I'm going to take a moment to point and / laugh at PosterX / GroupOfPeopleY who thought / believed *insert though/belief here*"

"Remember when PosterX said OldCommentY that no longer looks good? "

In general, if a comment goes from purely on topic to something 'ad hominem' (personal jabs, personal shots, attacks, flames, however you want to call it, towards a person, or a group of people, or a given city/state/country of people), those are most likely going to be found intolerable.

We also dissuade passive aggressive behavior. This can be various things, but common examples include statements that are basically meant to imply someone is either stupid or otherwise incapable of holding a rational conversation. This can include (but is not limited to) laughing at someone's conclusions rather than offering an honest rebuttal, asking people what game they were watching, or another common problem is Poster X will say "that player isn't that bad" and then Poster Y will say something akin to "LOL you think that player is good". We're not going to tolerate those kinds of comments out of respect for the community at large and for the sake of trying to just have an honest conversation.

Now, does the above cover absolutely every single kind of distraction that is unwanted? Probably not, but you should by now have a good idea of the general types of things we will be discouraging. The above examples are meant to give you a good feel for / idea of what we're looking for. If something new or different than the above happens to come along and results in the same problem (that being, any other attitude or behavior that ultimately distracts from actually just discussing the topic at hand, or that is otherwise disrespectful to other posters), we can and we will take action to curb this as well, so please don't take this to mean that if you managed to technically avoid saying something exactly like one of the above examples that you are then somehow off the hook.

That all having been said, our goal is to do so in a generally kind and respectful way, and that doesn't mean the moment we see something we don't like that somebody is going to be suspended or banned, either. It just means that at the very least we will probably say something about it, quite possibly snipping out the distracting parts of the post in question while leaving alone the parts that are actually just discussing the topics, and in the event of a repeating or excessive problem, then we will start issuing infractions to try to further discourage further repeat problems, and if it just never seems to improve, then finally suspensions or bans will come into play. We would prefer it never went that far, and most of the time for most of our posters, it won't ever have to.

A slip up every once and a while is pretty normal, but, again, when it becomes repetitive or excessive, something will be done. Something occasional is probably going to be let go (within reason), but when it starts to become habitual or otherwise a pattern, odds are very good that we will step in.

There's always a small minority that like to push people's buttons and/or test their own boundaries with regards to the administrators, and in the case of someone acting like that, please be aware that this is not a court of law, but a private website run by people who are simply trying to do the right thing as they see it. If we feel that you are a special case that needs to be dealt with in an exceptional way because your behavior isn't explicitly mirroring one of our above examples of what we generally discourage, we can and we will take atypical action to prevent this from continuing if you are not cooperative with us.

Also please be aware that you will not be given a pass simply by claiming that you were 'only joking,' because quite honestly, when someone really is just joking, for one thing most people tend to pick up on the joke, including the person or group that is the target of the joke, and for another thing, in the event where an honest joke gets taken seriously and it upsets or angers someone, the person who is truly 'only joking' will quite commonly go out of his / her way to apologize and will try to mend fences. People who are dishonest about their statements being 'jokes' do not do so, and in turn that becomes a clear sign of what is really going on. It's nothing new.

In any case, quite frankly, the overall quality and health of the entire forum's community is more important than any one troublesome user will ever be, regardless of exactly how a problem is exhibiting itself, and if it comes down to us having to make a choice between you versus the greater health and happiness of the entire community, the community of this forum will win every time.

Lastly, there are also some posters, who are generally great contributors and do not otherwise cause any problems, who sometimes feel it's their place to provoke or to otherwise 'mess with' that small minority of people described in the last paragraph, and while we possibly might understand why you might feel you WANT to do something like that, the truth is we can't actually tolerate that kind of behavior from you any more than we can tolerate the behavior from them. So if we feel that you are trying to provoke those other posters into doing or saying something that will get themselves into trouble, then we will start to view you as a problem as well, because of the same reason as before: The overall health of the forum comes first, and trying to stir the pot with someone like that doesn't help, it just makes it worse. Some will simply disagree with this philosophy, but if so, then so be it because ultimately we have to do what we think is best so long as it's up to us.

If you see a problem that we haven't addressed, the best and most appropriate course for a forum member to take here is to look over to the left of the post in question. See underneath that poster's name, avatar, and other info, down where there's a little triangle with an exclamation point (!) in it? Click that. That allows you to report the post to the admins so we can definitely notice it and give it a look to see what we feel we should do about it. Beyond that, obviously it's human nature sometimes to want to speak up to the poster in question who has bothered you, but we would ask that you try to refrain from doing so because quite often what happens is two or more posters all start going back and forth about the original offending post, and suddenly the entire thread is off topic or otherwise derailed. So while the urge to police it yourself is understandable, it's best to just report it to us and let us handle it. Thank you!

All of the above is going to be subject to a case by case basis, but generally and broadly speaking, this should give everyone a pretty good idea of how things will typically / most often be handled.

Rule #2

If the actions of an administrator inspire you to make a comment, criticism, or express a concern about it, there is a wrong place and a couple of right places to do so.

The wrong place is to do so in the original thread in which the administrator took action. For example, if a post gets an infraction, or a post gets deleted, or a comment within a larger post gets clipped out, in a thread discussing Paul George, the wrong thing to do is to distract from the discussion of Paul George by adding your off topic thoughts on what the administrator did.

The right places to do so are:

A) Start a thread about the specific incident you want to talk about on the Feedback board. This way you are able to express yourself in an area that doesn't throw another thread off topic, and this way others can add their two cents as well if they wish, and additionally if there's something that needs to be said by the administrators, that is where they will respond to it.

B) Send a private message to the administrators, and they can respond to you that way.

If this is done the wrong way, those comments will be deleted, and if it's a repeating problem then it may also receive an infraction as well.

Rule #3

If a poster is bothering you, and an administrator has not or will not deal with that poster to the extent that you would prefer, you have a powerful tool at your disposal, one that has recently been upgraded and is now better than ever: The ability to ignore a user.

When you ignore a user, you will unfortunately still see some hints of their existence (nothing we can do about that), however, it does the following key things:

A) Any post they make will be completely invisible as you scroll through a thread.

B) The new addition to this feature: If someone QUOTES a user you are ignoring, you do not have to read who it was, or what that poster said, unless you go out of your way to click on a link to find out who it is and what they said.

To utilize this feature, from any page on Pacers Digest, scroll to the top of the page, look to the top right where it says 'Settings' and click that. From the settings page, look to the left side of the page where it says 'My Settings', and look down from there until you see 'Edit Ignore List' and click that. From here, it will say 'Add a Member to Your List...' Beneath that, click in the text box to the right of 'User Name', type in or copy & paste the username of the poster you are ignoring, and once their name is in the box, look over to the far right and click the 'Okay' button. All done!

Rule #4

Regarding infractions, currently they carry a value of one point each, and that point will expire in 31 days. If at any point a poster is carrying three points at the same time, that poster will be suspended until the oldest of the three points expires.

Rule #5

When you share or paste content or articles from another website, you must include the URL/link back to where you found it, who wrote it, and what website it's from. Said content will be removed if this doesn't happen.

An example:

If I copy and paste an article from the Indianapolis Star website, I would post something like this:

http://www.linktothearticlegoeshere.com/article
Title of the Article
Author's Name
Indianapolis Star

Rule #6

We cannot tolerate illegal videos on Pacers Digest. This means do not share any links to them, do not mention any websites that host them or link to them, do not describe how to find them in any way, and do not ask about them. Posts doing anything of the sort will be removed, the offenders will be contacted privately, and if the problem becomes habitual, you will be suspended, and if it still persists, you will probably be banned.

The legal means of watching or listening to NBA games are NBA League Pass Broadband (for US, or for International; both cost money) and NBA Audio League Pass (which is free). Look for them on NBA.com.

Rule #7

Provocative statements in a signature, or as an avatar, or as the 'tagline' beneath a poster's username (where it says 'Member' or 'Administrator' by default, if it is not altered) are an unwanted distraction that will more than likely be removed on sight. There can be shades of gray to this, but in general this could be something political or religious that is likely going to provoke or upset people, or otherwise something that is mean-spirited at the expense of a poster, a group of people, or a population.

It may or may not go without saying, but this goes for threads and posts as well, particularly when it's not made on the off-topic board (Market Square).

We do make exceptions if we feel the content is both innocuous and unlikely to cause social problems on the forum (such as wishing someone a Merry Christmas or a Happy Easter), and we also also make exceptions if such topics come up with regards to a sports figure (such as the Lance Stephenson situation bringing up discussions of domestic abuse and the law, or when Jason Collins came out as gay and how that lead to some discussion about gay rights).

However, once the discussion seems to be more/mostly about the political issues instead of the sports figure or his specific situation, the thread is usually closed.

Rule #8

We prefer self-restraint and/or modesty when making jokes or off topic comments in a sports discussion thread. They can be fun, but sometimes they derail or distract from a topic, and we don't want to see that happen. If we feel it is a problem, we will either delete or move those posts from the thread.

Rule #9

Generally speaking, we try to be a "PG-13" rated board, and we don't want to see sexual content or similarly suggestive content. Vulgarity is a more muddled issue, though again we prefer things to lean more towards "PG-13" than "R". If we feel things have gone too far, we will step in.

Rule #10

We like small signatures, not big signatures. The bigger the signature, the more likely it is an annoying or distracting signature.

Rule #11

Do not advertise anything without talking about it with the administrators first. This includes advertising with your signature, with your avatar, through private messaging, and/or by making a thread or post.

      Philadelphia 76ers:

Finished 34-48 (9th in the East, the worst of both worlds). We traded away the face of the franchise for a broken down unprofessional bowler. Our team's flashy new part owner just made a ****** M. Night movie with his son. Nikola Vucevic, our first-round pick from 2011, became a hell of a player - in Orlando. Our first-rounder from this past season? Also on the Magic. We missed a lot of jump shots; kept shooting them. Then this.

We only missed the playoffs by four games, but the team that beat us in was Milwaukee; clearly, we're not a good team. Bottom ten offense (tied for lowest PPG in the league). Middle-of-the-road defense. With Bynum, our ceiling is probably the second round. Without Bynum, lottery-bound again.

First and foremost, we've gotta find a new coach. It would be wise to have someone in that seat by the time the draft rolls around on June 27th, but that's not our style. The new general manager, Sam Hinkie, spent the past six seasons under Daryl Morey's leadership in Houston, so you know he's going to try to make things happen.

      Here's our current roster:
      PG: Jrue Holiday/Charles Jenkins/Royal Ivey
      SG: Jason Richardson/Damien Wilkins/Nick Young
      SF: Evan Turner/Dorell Wright
      PF: Thaddeus Young/Arnett Moultrie/Lavoy Allen
      C: Andrew Bynum/Spencer Hawes/Kwame Brown

Our point guard is a 23-year-old All-Star. He's going to the national team mini-camp next month. The back-ups are shaky at best. Stay healthy, Jrue.

Evan Turner (inconsistent) and Thaddeus Young (undersized) are not world-beaters, but they're solid pros with some upside. I actually like Dorell Wright, and ten minutes of Moultrie or Allen won't kill us. We'll look to improve these positions if we can, but the forward spots are not a priority right now.

Re-signing Bynum to a long-term big money contract is not something I'm terribly excited about. Having said that, I think we might double-down and take the risk. He's a good player when healthy and focused, and we definitely don't want to end up empty-handed from the Iguodala trade (sunk cost fallacy in full force). However, Hinkie has already publicly branded the trade a failure, and, as the new guy, he really doesn't have any vested interest in keeping Bynum around, so we'll see. If we move in this direction, our season will once again rest on Bynum's knees, so keep your fingers crossed Philly fans! Our center position would be solid with a Bynum/Hawes rotation. Plus, Kwame!

Our biggest weakness, in my opinion, is at SG. Jason Richardson is old, Damien Wilkins is older, and Nick Young, or "Swaggy P" as he prefers to be known, is a less efficient, less talented J.R. Smith. It would be great to plug in a talented two alongside Jrue Holiday, and that's why...

With the 11th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers select C.J. McCollum of Lehigh University.

C.J. McCollum just feels like the right choice. He's an elite shooter and can play both guard positions (his 6'6'' wingspan will help against taller opponents). He has a high basketball IQ, a great work ethic, and is a natural leader - on and off the court. We'll use him sparingly to back up Jrue at the point guard position, but we'd rather see them play together as we believe their games are quite complementary. Like Damian Lillard and Steph Curry before him, we believe McCollum will be the next great guard to come out of a mid-major school. Plus, he grew up rooting for the Sixers. That's got to count for something, right?

As an organization, we feel good moving forward with a young core of Jrue, C.J., Turner and Thad Young (all under 25 years old). If we keep Bynum, that's a solid starting five for the future.

Caldwell Pope at #10 is such a steal. Would be shocked if the Pistons and Wolves pass on him.

EDIT: On CJ I don't see him as a good pg at all. He is much more of a George Hill than a Lillard or Curry. CJ some of the worst reads this season. I think his decision making is questionable at best. I do love the way he can finish left, he should be a decent 6th man. I don't see him getting to the rim very much like he did in college. I think the likes of Chalmers will be able to stay in front of him pretty easy.

Pope seems like a less developed Shumpert to me. Which is nice, I just think Len has much more value. Who knows.

                      • Re: Pacers Digest mock draft 2013

The offseason has come for the Oklahoma City Thunder. After a heartbreaking end to the season which saw the team lose in the second round of the playoffs, the team is looking ahead and aims to improve its roster heading into the 2013-14 season.

The future of this team ultimately lies in the hands of two of the league's finest young players, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. In an untimely and unfortunate turn of events, Russell Westbrook tore his right meniscus in a first round series against the Houston Rockets, which required season-ending knee surgery. The good news is that with a full offseason to recover and rehabilitate, he should be back and good to go next season.

The Thunder made one of the most shocking and controversial moves of 2012 by trading elite shooting guard James Harden to the Houston Rockets. The team was under financial constraints as ownership did not want to face luxury tax penalties by offering Harden the max contract he was seeking. Alas, OKC quickly sought a trade partner with the necessary combination of assets, and ultimately found one in the Houston Rockets. This resulted in a package of veteran Kevin Martin, whose contract was expiring, as well as two young assets in Jeremy Lamb and Toronto's 2013 first round pick (from the Kyle Lowry trade).

The team's depth chart is as follows, listing those under contract in 2013-14:

PG: Russell Westbrook - Reggie Jackson
SG: Thabo Sefolosha - Jeremy Lamb
                        SF: Kevin Durant
PF: Serge Ibaka - Nick Collison - Perry Jones
C: Kendrick Perkins - Hasheem Thabeet

We have no need to address our point guard position with a healthy Westbrook returning, in addition to a Reggie Jackson whose contributions in the playoffs we were thrilled to see. We believe Reggie has emerged as a legitimate backup point guard who will be able to relieve Westbrook, as well as play alongside him in spots. Collectively, those two give us what we need offensively and defensively.

The starting wings are in good shape with the league's best scorer, Kevin Durant, and defensive stopper Thabo Sefolosha. However, there could be some issues when it comes to the bench. Our sixth-man last season, Kevin Martin, is due for a new contract, which creates uncertainty as to whether or not he'll return. Depending on the money he'll command and/or get offered, the team may or may not choose to bring him back. This leaves one of the main pieces of the Harden deal, Jeremy Lamb. We loved what we saw from him in last year's Summer League--he showed flashes of brilliance with his play and exhibited potential to be a long, athletic scorer in the league. With that said, we don't know if he's ready to contribute on the big stage just yet. It's possible that his minutes will increase next season, but at this point, we don't know what to expect out of him.

Our first unit big men are set with Ibaka and Perkins. The team hopes for continued offensive development from Ibaka, which would enable more freedom for Westbrook and Durant to score. He already has a nice mid-range game, but we're looking for more consistency out of him. Defensively, he provides the shot-blocking prowess which is complementary to Perkins' abilities as a low post defender. Off the bench is Nick Collison, the steady veteran who can play alongside either Ibaka or Perkins and provides hustle and intangibles. Overall, these three provide what we need from our bigs with the exception of size. Neither one of these players is taller than 6'10" and this leaves us vulnerable to teams with big centers. Hasheem Thabeet was brought in last offseason to shore up our size up front, but the team could certainly use an upgrade.

This brings us to the other main piece of the Harden trade, Toronto's 2013 first round pick. We were really hoping for the pick to be in the top 10, but unfortunately, this didn't happen. The team would certainly be interested in trade scenarios that would bring an established player in who fills a need. However, there is talent at #12 that the Thunder is intrigued by--talent that could perhaps contribute right away.

With that said... with the #12 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, the Oklahoma City Thunder select:
                        Steven Adams from Pittsburgh.

Not only were we impressed by the athletic abilities and length that the 7-footer Adams possesses, but we believe he has a great motor and the proper attitude to succeed in the league, especially in the culture of OKC. With his size comes his abilities to rebound the ball and block shots. If he can do these things right away at the NBA level, he could earn minutes in the rotation. He is limited offensively though, so we're not expecting too much on that end, though hopefully with time he'll develop his skills there. There is an opportunity on the horizon to become this team's long-term center when Kendrick Perkins' time is up, so we are hoping Adams embraces the challenge.

If the Thunder re-sign Martin and get a long term starter out of this draft, that trade will be a bit easier to swallow. Otherwise, what a fail of a trade that was.

If there’s a team in the league in a tougher position than the Dallas Mavericks, I’d like to see them. The face (and savior) of the franchise is aging and isn’t interested in A. leaving or B. rebuilding. With likely two years left of all star level play from Dirk ahead (and elite level play behind him,) going all in on Dwight Howard and CP3 is the only course of action that makes sense. Except they already tried this and failed. Owner, Mark Cuban, has proven he’s ready to go all in and do whatever it takes to land superstars to play with Dirk Nowitzki, but what he hasn’t proven is that he has a back up plan in the extremely likely event that his plan fails.

So what direction do they take in the NBA draft? The odds of a CP3/Dwight level player being available at pick #13 is slim to none and they have to decide if a project is worth it considering the $1,655,300 cap hold the pick comes with. Mark Cuban, unable to deal with the pressure of this decision has gone completely off the deep end and hired me, Goyle, a connoisseur of progressive metal and tacos, NOT NBA talent, to handle the draft for him.

                            Let’s evaluate the teams needs:

                            EVERYTHING.

We have three guys under contract next season that we plan on keeping as part of the rotation. Vince Carter, Shawn Marion, Dirk Nowitzki. This leaves us in a position to go with the best player available, or the guy we think will have the highest ceiling. We identified that individual early on, and we’re pleased that he’s, as expected, available at pick #13.

With the 13th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, the Dallas Mavericks select Giannis Adetokunbo.

An 18 year old with incredible length and the ability to do it all offensively (albeit he’s extremely raw), We struggled with the idea of Shabazz Muhammed when he fell to us, but ultimately we went with the youth, length, selflessness that Adetokunbo has over Shabazz. We feel he has the best chance, however slim, to be a legitimate star in the league. It’s likely he won’t see the floor in his first few years in the league, but the tools are there for him to succeed and you couldn’t find better guys to learn from than Dirk and Marion. It’s no secret we’re swinging for the fences with this pick, if he pans out the Mavericks are prepared for Life after Dirk. If he doesn’t, well maybe Mark Cuban shouldn’t have hired me to make this pick, then, huh?

After finishing the season on a down swing and falling right out of the playoffs, they are looking to be in solid position this offseason with two 1st rnd picks, one second rnd pick along with 31 million in cap space. The future is looking very promising with the likes of Enes Kanter (C), Derrick Favors (PF), Gordon Hayward (SF/SG), Alec Burks (SG/PG).

There are 8 free agents on the Jazz, but only 3 are worthy to speak of, atleast in some way...
I do think AL Jefferson will be resign as the Jazz are not going to find any better and I don't think Kanter is quite ready to take on a starting center position. Paul Millsap on the other hand will either walk or be dealt in a S&T this free agency. AL, Enes and Derrick are a strong C/PF rotation.

Marvin Williams is out after having achilles surgery. I don't look to see Utah using Amnesty on him as it's not like them to throw money away, Marvin will be back in November to take the court because he didn't exercise his early termination option. After all it's a business, right!

They need another wing to start along side Hayward and let Burks come off the bench with 6th man minutes as he is a SG/PG. But there isn't a quality sg in this draft that can come right in and give quality starter minutes that the Jazz need so desperately. A good S&T would be Paul Millsap for Demar Derozan. This would really help both team out alot. It would give Toronto some toughness in the front court and Ross can can be the starter at SG. Which Raptor fans seem to think Ross is better anyways, I know I do. This trade would also give Utah a fast, dynamic backcourt with DeRozan and my 14th pick. The problem is I don't see Millsap willing to do a S&T to Toronto. But ya never know, a s&t contract is usually much better the an FA contract.

So, with the 14th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, the Utah Jazz select... Shane Larkin, Point Guard, University of Miami.

I know Shane Larkin can come right in and take the starting PG position. He is better right now then the point guards the Jazz had this last season.
Shane Larkin is a baller, his leadership, athleticism, ball handling, passing, quickness, scoring and shooting is unquestionable. If he was 6'-3" he may very well be a top 3 pick of this draft. I'm not affraid of this man's height at 5'-11". He has a 44" vertical and is quick footed with quick reflexes and hand speed. Larkin has a solid attitude on and off the court. He will be a great influence to his teamates and fans. He will be highly active in the community. This young man is an absolute winner on and off the court.

Core team thus far. Got more picks, 21st & 46th.

                              Jefferson / Kanter
                              Favors / Kanter
                              Hayward / Williams
                              DeRozen / Burks
                              Larkin / Burks

Garbage players get 1st round picks, (WTF)! All of the NBA must hate the Pacers! LOL

Looking back at this season, we can see one positive. We made the play-offs. And that’s about it. At the trade deadline, we had ourselves convinced we were going to be contenders, with our new style of play. We thought that putting a group of guys together, who all like to shoot, would make it more fun and therefore guys would start to give more effort on both sides of the court. We were WRONG!

So, we have to take a good look at ourselves. We are a wasteland; we will not be able to bring good or even decent free agents here, not even with the nostalgic commercial we had on league pass during the regular season.

We had this guy turn down an extension for 25 million. We also had that other midget crying about him being a maximum player and wanting that kind of contract. After initially not caving in, we are starting to think we might have to, eventually. Good thing is, during the Miami series, he did admit ‘there are no max players in this locker room, look around!’ Let’s hope his memory is as short off the court as it is on. You can see, we are in a pickle.

                                Our players last year were:

                                Point guards:

                                Brandon Jennings
                                Ish Smith

                                Wings:

                                Monta Ellis
                                J.J. Redick
                                Marquis Daniels
                                Mike Suckleavy

                                Bigs:

                                Ersan Ilyasova
                                Sam Dalembert
                                Drew Gooden
                                LMAM
                                Ekpe Udoh
                                Larry Sanders
                                Joel Pryzbilla
                                Gustavo Ayon
                                John Henson

Who knew we would be able to get such an unbalanced roster, without making a fool of ourselves. Oh wait… anyway, a couple of players will be leaving us. Daniels, Suckleavy, Redick, Dalembert, Pryzbilla are all unrestricted free agents. Ayon has a team option, which we will exercise, and we will give Brandon Jennings a qualifying offer. The only players we’re thinking about re-signing are Redick and Suckleavy. Redick, because otherwise we’d look even more stupid for our trade (impossible) and Suckleavy because of his godforsaken basketball iq, to compensate for Ellis and Jennings as the primary ball handlers.

A lot depends on what other teams will be offering, but we expect J.J. to sign with us with a 4yr/27 deal. Suckleavy would probably want more than the minimum, so he’s gone as well. His mighty defense will sorely be missed, but something has to give whilst we are tanking for next years draft. We will allow Ellis and Jennings to just chuck up as much as they want, since they will be playing for a new contract and not for wins. This will give us a win-win situation, as we get ready for a stacked draft next season. We will try to move Ellis and his inflated stats before the trade-deadline, to a lottery-team that thinks it has a chance to make the play-offs, but actually does not, for a prospect and a pick. (Yes, we’re looking at you Minnesota! We’ll take Derrick Williams of your hands, knowing how much you like small guards. Might be a bit harder with Kahn out of town though...).

We’ll move Ilyasova to the 3 for the time being, and force feed minutes to John Henson at the 4. Larry Sanders isn’t going anywhere, nor is Ekpe Udoh. Ayon will be in the rotation as well, just to make sure we have some legit size out there at times. Redick will get the bulk of the minutes left by Ellis and Jennings, with Ish Smith playing point to mop up the remaining minutes. The rest will be used only as practice bodies or in case of injury or foul trouble. J.J will be the shooting guard of the future, as soon as we’ve tricked people into taking our current ‘franchise players’.

So that brings us to the draft, where we have to note that we are fairly thin at the wing positions. We have to choose between drafting for need, or best player available. It is not about drafting potential, because we are not terribly enamoured with any of the players available at this point. A big that has some sort of offensive game and could complement Sanders would come in handy as well. We were heavily considering Shabazz Muhammad, but there were simply too many red flags. Another player that we looked at extensively was Kelly Olynyk, who might be the best fit next to Sanders, since he does have some sort of a postgame. The fact that we expect zero improvement from him forced us into yet another direction

All in all, the Milwaukee Bucks have the decided that the 15th pick of the 2013 draft will be spent on:

                                Rudy Gobert!
We found out last year, that playing a small line-up will give you nothing but a can of *sswhooping. We will go against the direction most NBA-teams are heading in, instead we will follow that of the successful teams these last play-offs. We are hoping that Gobert can become what Roy Hibbert is for the Pacers. Thinking about the problems we would give opposing teams, trying to take it inside, has us drooling. A defensive partner for Sanders down low and we are certain selecting him will help us net a very good lottery pick next season due to our offensive ineptness.
Trying to enjoy every Pacers game as if it is the last!
