Example, I am a graduate student that makes around 35k a year, and I can live comfortably just taking care of myself, and would prefer Chicago just because there are so many more things to do.
Cost of living, traffic, space, weather, education... there's alot of reasons some of us don't like cities like Chicago. We don't put 'having things to do' above everything else.

Usually "more things to do" people mean more of the same things to do just at different locations, or more cool things to do. I can guarantee that the only things you can do in Chicago you can't do in Indy have to do with Lake Michigan.

I lived in Indianapolis for a decent amount of time, and comparing space/weather/education is a wash. You are ignoring the part about being single and that assumption implies you are atleast 21, and there are some really good schools here. As for traffic yea it is bad, but Chicago has one of the best public transport systems in the country with both a subway and a Bus line.

Oh well back to basketball, watching Knicks vs Pacers will definatley be more interesting, just to see how well we an guard Carmelo and their 3 point shooters.

Other than superior museums, nightlife, visiting musicians, artists, for the most part superior restaurants etc... Just because you are nominally doing the "same thing" doesn't make it so. I'm from Indianapolis btw.

I'm quite pleased people have that view of Indiana. It keeps our traffic under control...and our home prices low. No way could I live so fat in Chi-town.

Edit: As for single people who have no responsibility or property, sure the city is more interesting. But single people get married and have kids...and the smart ones move out of the city and buy homes for a fraction...

                    Subway?

Maybe you mean a "subway". I have one just a few blocks away. The sandwiches are OK but its not really factor in my quality of life.

Also, I had a friend out here go to Indy for a week for a recruiting trip. He *****ed and moaned constantly about it, I had Jacksonville and I asked if we could switch and they were like no switching. He went and came back. His exact comments were, "wow, that place is surprisingly awesome. Caught a pacers game and a Butler game. Ate at the restaurants, it was an awesome place to get per diem." Indiana is underrated.

Won't speak for others, but sports played a major role in my decision to live in Indy. I'll take having the ability to go to any home Pacers or Colts game and the ability to spend the entire Month of May at IMS over anything Chicago has to offer.

If you didn't know, Chicago does have a subway rail station that is both underground and above ground that connects majority of the city along with the two major airports. Good effort in trying to be sarcastic though.
