    Re: All time Pacers team

Since I started watching the Pacers in 1967 I have seen almost every top player the Pacers have had. Here is my “All Time” Pacers team. Most of them are based on a minimum of 5 years in a Pacer uniform.
    Top 3 at each position:

PG: Freddie Lewis, Don Buse, Mark Jackson
SG: Reggie Miller, Billy Knight, Jalen Rose
SF: Roger Brown, Chuck Person, Danny Granger
PF: George McGinnis, Jermaine O’Neal, Bob Netolicky
C: Mel Daniels, Rik Smits, Dale Davis

I know that Davis was listed as a PF but really played more as a center, esp on defense.
    Go Pacers!

And Buse was an all star for the Pacers in both the ABA and NBA before he played for Phoenix.

Vern Fleming is not that far behind Jackson. He just played on some pretty bad teams for too many years.

Freddie Lewis in my mind was more of combo guard and could really score the ball but certainly deserves mention too.

Buse was all-NBA defensive first team while playing for the Indiana Pacers 76-77. He repeated that accomplishment for the following 3 seasons after being traded.

There should be 4 fixtures on everybody's list... Miller, Brown, Daniels, and McGinnis.

I'll take Rose and Mckey at small forward, but only if I can have them both play the position at the same time - Jalen plays offense and Derrick plays defense. :-)

As I always say I cannot pick players I didn't see play. So that cuts off any players before 1980.

                      Mark Jackson
                      Reggie Miller
                      McKey
                      Dale Davis
                      David West.

I guess I'm not very good at this. Would kind of like to see the West - Dale Davis combo though. Don't take my picks too seriously. Might also like to see Sobers and Mike Banton play again. Would to see if Dudley Bradley really was a good defender. Wish Stipo and Logg didn't have knee injuries.

Surely you mean David West, and not the old Mark West who played 15 games here in 1998.

At least my lineup would go 0.500, shooting their way to 123-119 wins or losing games 110-116.

Your lineup would struggle to win 30 games, putting up about 62 points a night. No matter how good thier defense might be, they'd lose a lot of games 58-72.

Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts

Mark West in his prime might be a great choice on an all-time Suns team.

If, on the other hand, we're going for the best basketball players to ever play for the Pacers, then shame on all of you for leaving off Alex English. (And Tim Hardaway.)

                            (And Adrian Dantley.)

                            (And Chris Mullin.)

At the time they were playing for the Pacers, though, Mullin, Dantley, and English were not still all-star level players (in English's case: not yet an all-star level, Hall-of-fame level player)

It is a fair criticism that Mark Jackson can be viewed similarly, though, and made most people's lists
