It really had to hurt Dwight losing to the Magic. Too bad the game wasn't in Orlando.

Nothing says "imminent return" quite like a statement saying a guy is "weeks" away from practicing.

Well previous reports had him out for the season so "weeks away" sounds like he is going to be able to come back this year, that should be good news.

I always thought he was coming back this year.

I assumed he'd be back in January or February... and that still might be the case.

I assumed, and still do, that sometime after the All-Star break he'd be back.

The Hawks get another Big Man to play next to Horford while "Getting something for Josh Smith".
                  That would be interesting.
But I wonder, would D'Antoni have Josh Smith taking a bunch of jumpers? Shooting 3s? Josh Smith with a green light to take jumpers = pure win (for the Spurs)

I don't see why they wouldn't call Toronto about a Gasol/Duhon for Bargnani/Calderon trade or something along those lines.
I like it, but Jim Buss has pretty much said that they are targeting LeBron&co in 2014, so Bargnani's deal would complicate that. They probably won't sacrifice that cap space unless it's a legit All Star.
I think most likely they'd ask for some good young guys on rookie deals and expirings.

I'd be stunned if they made a trade mostly for cap purposes (which is what I assume you're suggesting) -- Kobe might strangle every member of the Buss family if they made a deal like that.

No, i'm thinking more like young athletic solid starter or two who can shoot + a big expiring.
Like, Kawhi Leonard + James Anderson + Boris Diaw + S-Jax expiring
Or, Chandler Parsons + Marcus Morris + a bunch of expirings
Not saying those particular teams would do it, but I think those are the type of deals they'd want. Guys that help them now, but they keep enough room for LeBron, Bosh, Melo, Love and such going forward.

I do think they'd want big expirings, though. I'd be surprised if they start next season at 100 mil+ in total budget, that's 200 mil + with the new tax.

Pau for David Lee makes sense. Problem's making the money work. Maybe Pau + Duhon for Lee + Beans

The deals that make sense for the Lakers are this:

                          Gasol to Miami for Bosh.

                          Gasol to Toronto for Andrea/Calderon

                          Gasol to Minny for Dwill/Varea/Roy(filler)

Somebody suggested that on twitter yesterday with one of GS's reporters shutting it down by saying that GS values Lee really high.

The Lakers won't trade Pau to another Western Conference Team...much less a Team in the same division.

If Pau goes anywhere....it will be to the East.

I think you go another way, just get a defensive PF who can play a role, Kevin Garnett would be perfect at this point in his career. Never happen, but he's a guy who can make all that work out in LA.
