Before anyone asks.....Rudy's contract is as follows:

      2012-2013 : $16.5 mil
      2013-2014 : $17.8 mil
      2014-2015 : $19.3 mil ( Player Option )

      And Granger is owed:

      2012-2013 : $13.06 mil
      2013-2014 : $14.1 mil

It's possible to trade Granger and filler for Rudy...but I doubt that the Pacers would do it to pay for PG when he becomes a RFA ( who I totally think will get something that starts at a $11 to 13 mil contract offer ).

They aren't rebuilding, so they don't have a need for a project....they have to win now. I'm guessing that the Grizzlies would want a high quality Starting SF that can already contribute and is on a rookie Contract, a Pick and a huge expiring so that they can get under the Cap.

Gay to Orlando makes sense, Al+Redick+Ayon for Rudy? That should give Orlando an star and Memphis two players that can open the floor.

Salarywise, that works....but I wouldn't do it. I don't think that's good value for Rudy. I mean...would you trade Granger for that package? Oh wait.....nm...asking the wrong person J/K

My thought is that the Grizzlies would want a solid Prospect that would be part of the Starting Lineup that can contribute beyond this season....and would likely send him to the East. IMHO...they only want to move Gay cuz they need to help clear his salary from the books so that they get closer to the LT in the 2013-2014 season while staying competitive.

Evan Turner + Nick Young + Dorell Wright + 1st for Rudy + Wayne Ellington?

          As for Orlando....maybe Harrington+Reddick+Moe Harkless+Ayon+Multiple 1sts for Rudy+Wayne?

It all depends of what you need as a team, Memphis needs outside shooting, Al and Redick can do that for them, they also save some money.

And regarding your last comment, until teams get to see if Danny is healthy enough to play I don't see anybody trading for him just the same way I don't see anybody trading for Bynum, Amare or any other injured "star", Rose is probably the only guy somebody would risk it all for I think.

LeBron James’ mother settles suit with Fontainebleau Miami Beach valet

              That’s the Christmas spirit!

Miami Heat superstar LeBron James’ mother has agreed to settle a nasty lawsuit brought against her by a valet she slapped because he didn’t bring her car fast enough, Gossip Extra has learned.

The terms of the settlement were not disclosed, although a source familiar with the case said Gloria James will be paying ex-Fontainebleau Miami Beach valet Rock Feller Sorel for his trouble.

Neither Chris Lyons nor Sandy Becher, Gloria’s attorneys, commented.

A legal source says attorneys are still haggling with LeBron’s publicists over a damage-control statement about the deal.

Bob Stok, Sorel’s attorney, wouldn’t comment on the details but said Sorel’s happy to have the incident behind him.

“He was embarrassed and shamed by what happened,” Stok said.

The lawsuit was filed nearly two years ago in the wake of a fracas that ended with Ms. James arrested on battery and disorderly intoxication charges.

The first charge was dropped, and she was sentenced to community service for the second.

In civil court, things were much more tense. At one point, Gloria James was ordered to return to Miami on a private jet two days before a hearing to make sure she would show up.

The settlement comes as the case was headed for a Jan. 7 trial that threatened to ensnare Heat charity director Steve Stowe. He was the one who got James released to him before she was shipped to the stockade.

I was asking hypothetically.....assuming all things are equal...as in Granger is healthy.....would you trade Granger for Ayon+Reddick+Harrington? I agree that they can contribute.....I just don't think that the Pacers would trade Granger for them.

Re: 2012-13 NBA Random Thoughts Thread IX: Ode to Joy

Well I guess you could call it "dating"

Tarantino: My Mom Dated Wilt Chamberlain

It's well known that Wilt Chamberlain enjoyed being with lots of women. While the 20,000 figure that he once floated might be a little high, it's safe to say that he got around.

And as it turns out, one of the women that Chamberlain dated was Connie McHugh. If that name doesn't sound familiar, you'll definitely recognize her son: Quentin Tarantino.

Yup, that's right. In a recent interview on NPR, Tarantino revealed that his mother dated the Hall of Famer and four-time NBA MVP. While the entire interview can be heard on NPR's website, here's the transcript of Tarantino discussing his mother with host Terry Gross (at around the 31:30 mark of the interview).

Tarantino: “It was almost like a sitcom, the way we lived in the 70s. Because [my mom] was in her 20s, she was hot, alright, she was a hot white girl. Her best friend was named Jackie, and she was a hot black girl. Her other best friend, Lillian, was a hot Mexican girl. And they lived in this, like, swinging singles apartment with me."

Gross: "What impact did that have on you?"

Tarantino: "It was the ’70s, and I lived with these three hip single ladies, all always going out on dates all the time, dating football players and basketball players ...”

                  Gross: "Professional ones?"

Tarantino: “Oh yeah she dated Wilt Chamberlain. She's one of the thousands."

So there you have it. This is quite an improbable link between two of the most talented people of their respective generations.

If nothing else, this could be useful information for the next time you play "Six Degrees of Separation."

I think Rudy Gay is among the most overpaid players in the league and I am not a fan of his game at all... I could see mediocre teams like Phoenix and Sacramento trading for him, but I honestly wouldn't trade for him unless I could ship out a bad contract in the same deal.

I wouldn't do that deal...I honestly believe Rudy Gay's worth to the public has been greatly inflated by highlights and his video game love. He is always a good player to face in the NBA2K franchise.

When did Pau Gasol get so useless? Kobe's incredible, Nash is still playing at a high level, Dwight at least tries...

Clippers are a fun team to watch.

Pau just doesn't seem to care about the Lakers anymore. And I don't think that he should even care at this point. D'Antoni is trying to turn him into Mehmet Okur. Kobe *****es about him needing to step up while taking 10 more shots per game than him. The FO has made clear that they're willing to move him if he doesn't adjust to the D'Antoni system.

The only guy that seems to give him credit is Nash. I really think that the Lakers should use 2 different units.

One unit should consist of Kobe / Dwight. Kobe could play his beloved Kobe-ball there and be happy.

The other unit should consist of Nash / Pau / Jordan Hill. That would be great for Nash as he would be finally able to have the ball in his hands. Pau would start hitting shots as Nash gets him good looks. Hill would just rebound, defend and score off the PnR.

Sprinkle each usage with the appropriate usage of MWP / Meeks and the rest. That would make their team workable.

Regarding the Rudy Gay trade talks. I just found something very interesting Memphis Grizzlies board.

                            Here's the thread:

And here is the interesting part:

Rudy/Arthur for Danny Granger or Paul George/fill-in

It's like 8th graders that make this crap up. They do realize the salaries don't work. But also, that it's just bad for the Pacers. Maybe they are a comedian and working on a routine.

And Gay for PG/filler. LMAO!!!! I mean, is Hibbert the filler?
First time in a long time, I've been happy with the team that was constructed, and now they struggle. I blame the coach.

I disagree, Pau's been inconsistent like this for years, even in the championship teams. He's just consistently useless now. D'Antoni likes to spread the floor, but he's not JOB. He does adjust for players. And if Pau would play well, he'd be worth adjusting for.

Nash and Kobe play really well together. I wouldn't separate them. In fact, when the Lakers take either one of them out of the game, everything goes to crap. Dwight at least does something on defense. But he makes some very stupid mistakes. And his touch around the basket is worse than Hibbert's.

Give Pau credit and more shots? When Kobe shoots 15 for 30 and Pau shoots 2 for 11, I'd give more shots to Kobe. (Pau is 3 for 18 for his last two games. That's beyond pathetic.) He's only shooting one percent better than Roy, but he doesn't bring the defense or the effort that Roy does. He deserves the criticism from his teammates.

You may be right. He may not care about the Lakers. And he certainly has a right to be annoyed at the management. But he's hurting his teammates because he "doesn't care."

The Lakers problems have nothing to do with coaching, and nothing to do with Kobe (as cool as it always is to play that card.) It has to do with their on again off again defense and their big guys letting them down. But as I said, Dwight at least tries..
