Really this is all we are going to do

It certainly is frustrating to hear that hey believe the starting unit is set. I think its lacking someone to create off the dribble (both for themselves and for others) and a standout talent / go to guy. I wouldn't expect them to say anything else though, as it would set it up as a failure if they didnt make a big move. Unfortunately I dont expect them to do much more than what was said - sign Roy and Hill and then a couple bench players. They arent going to risk making a mistake. We have to hope either Lance or PG get to an allstar level or above. That's the only way the team will add a difference maker - it will be to risky for them to do anything else.

The Pacers are also expected to contact point guard Deron Williams' agent, but the top free agent on the market is expected to re-sign with the Brooklyn Nets or go to Dallas. Future Hall of Fame point guard Steve Nash also reportedly has a small list of teams he wants to sign with; however the Pacers aren't one of them.
See, that's cool. At least we are putting forth effort. If they do that with Nash I'll be fine with whatever we have at point guard to start the season. Just try. It's our best shot at winning, and since they're committed to keeping Granger they should know his window isn't much more than the 3 yrs Nash would get.

I'd want them to make an all out effort like they did with Nene and actually go to Nash and make it very apparent how mch we want him. I wasn't upset last year when Nene turned us down for more money at that point we had an offer we was wiling to make and I think it was above and beyond fair and he just turned it down. That's fine, but show me you give a damn. Nash deserves that sort of effort as far as enticing him to come here.

          KG back to Boston, 3/$34

That contract puts KG ahead of Shaq for the highest earning NBA player ever

And if he officially signs the deal today, assuming this is his last contract (which I think is pretty safe), he will have NEVER been a free agent his entire career.

Alas, if KG waits one day, he could negotiate a no trade clause in this contract. With Ainge at the controls, it might be worth it.

Re: Off season Rumors and Speculation

Here is my predictions of what will happen here:

We will sign Brandon Roy, sign Carl Landry, and we will trade a package of players and picks for Kyle Lowry. If no Lowry, we sign Andre Miller cheap enough to fit into our salary.

              Lowry or Miller/Hill
              George/Roy/Stephenson
              Granger/Roy/Johnson
              West/Landry
              Hibbert/Plumlee

I think that will be our roster on opening day.

I'd be cool with that. I really like Lowry but I don't knw if he would start over hill.

What is the point if his agent said we won't consider you, and if reports are true that he wants to sign in the first day or two of FA, his agent isn't going to make appointments with teams they have no interest in.

Free agency is a dance, it takes TWO to tango folks!!!

I feel this is the main thing. Only a couple of free-agents (not even a handful) were willing to come to Indy. Even in our heyday during the 90's, when we were a basically a lock for ECF every year, we couldn't attract big-name free agents to come here. There were a few in Nash's scenario that went to worst teams.

Right now assuming they resign Hibbert and Hill, give Johnson a contract and pick up Stephenson's option the Pacers will have 12 players under contract. They will need to add a 3rd point guard be it Price or someone else which makes 13 and will not want to go into the season with more than 14 players under contract so they have flexibility to add someone if needed.

That means they can probably not sign more than one other player in free agency including free agents that were here last year and any other roster changes will have to come through a trade.

Point guard Darren Collison, who lost his starting job to Hill because of an injury at the end of the regular season, told the front office during his exit interview that he wants to return next season.

"I'd love to have him back. Is it possible? I think so," Pritchard said. "At some point in time there might have to be changes made, but that's not our goal. He came up and told us he wants to be back."

I'm one of the few PDers that has faith in Darren Collison going forward, but if we can't get some of the bigger names out there - and it doesn't look like we will - I think he'll be a big factor in whether we get better or not as a team. I know some of you were turned off by his "I will be a starter again in this league" attitude, but knowing that he wants to come back to Indy suggests to me that he'll be working hard this offseason to accomplish that goal.

Our front office doesn't do it's work in the media. Other teams can read.

These last 2 summers have been the only time we've had real money to spend, if we're not willing to make the push to the next step now then we're never going to have the ability again.
Simon was in favor of another three year plan. Bird wanted to spend now. Bird is leaving. Draw your own conclusion.

We're the freaking Hawks 2.0 and there's no one to blame but management.[/QUOTE]

You're over stating the situation. The Hawks haven't been able to get above the 2nd round for about three or four years in a row. The Pacers situation isn't comparable. Last year the Pacers made the playoffs for the first time in years. This year we advanced to the second round. You are right that there's no one to blame but management for that progress. However, the architect of that progress is leaving.
