I don't know if he'll pan out. I've actually never seen him play. I just get the feeling - and I can't fight the feeling.

Yep DC is probably gone, he doesn't want to be a backup lets hope we make something happen.

Re: Off season Rumors and Speculation

I'm on record as anticipating/supporting the trade-up option, and I'm suspicious ... not certain, just suspicious ... that Larry wants John Henson (if he's there at #10; Kstat?). I could be all wet and maybe we'll see Austin Rivers in a Pacer uni, but Last year Larry bemoaned the fact that certain players he liked decided to return to school, and I've thought ever since that Henson was who he was referring to. Tbird has offered his opinion that we may trade up to select Tyler Zeller, but assuming we re-sign Roy, I'd be surprised if we trade up to select a big who only can play center. (Does anyone want to argue that Zeller can play minutes at PF?)

Some of you think Henson is too twiggy, i know, but he certainly would add a whole new dimension to our current stable of bigs. If we bring over Stanko, as JT reminded us, or re-sign Fes, we'll have plenty of beef. But with West on the last year of his contract and Tyler apparently plateauing (if not regressing), Henson will be given time to develop, both skill-wise and physically, and methinks Larry sees him as our future starting PF.

I would love to have the Pacers move up to draft Henson, especially if it only costs us the 26 and DC (and possibly Tyler). He seems like a player who can be the future at PF, to me at least.

I have a hard time believing that there is a BIG trade on the horizon where we trade out. I dont feel that Bird is going to rock the boat to much, rather change some of the periphery pieces like DC. Not sure that DC is going to fetch, but I bet not much, even packaged with the 26th and Tyler. I think that trading up is the best bet for us, possibly buying a pick if any are for sale this year.

Collison is an AWESOME point guard, but he is not the right player for our team. I am one of Collison's biggest fans; however, it is obvious that he needs to play in a system similar to that which he played in New Orleans. I think Portland would be a great fit for Collison. If he does not remain a Pacer, I wish him the best of luck. Furthermore, be careful what you wish for. Trading Collison raises the bargaining power of Hill. Without a player to challenge Hill, he will most certainly collect a large sum of money.

I would be in favor of trading up to #10 if the price is right, but if we had a #10 pick, I'd want someone like Lillard or Jeremy Lamb. Zeller is a real possibility, but he wouldn't be my first choice.

Maybe he's taking Pritchard's role as a consultant type, although it appears that Pritchard was more in Bird's ear than we may have known.

As for trading up, if we can do it, sure. Why not? Collison is a nice player, but he's not good enough to be a starter on this team if we want to contend (as the roster currently stands). The player we see today is probably on par for what Collison will be for the remainder of his career. I'd like to see someone who projects to be a long-term starter on this team, whether that's at PG, PF, or Danny's eventual replacement, who knows. I think it would be kind of a waste for someone like Zeller though who projects to be a backup for us, as chances are we won't be getting many other -teens/lottery picks in the near future.

What could Donnie Walsh possibly do here that isn't already taken care of?

I can only see DW being here as a consultant. Bird would leave before having to share the decision making again with DW- and no one would take power from the reigning executive of the year.

Remember Bird brought Pritchard in b/c he enjoys picking basketball minds and opinions. DW would just be another brain to pick.

Only seems like Herb granting DW a favor to stay close to the game he loves as he ages...
