The Bobcats may be eyeing Shaw, but if I was Shaw, I wouldn't be eyeing the BobcatsDid you know Antonio and Dale aren’t actually brothers? -

Knowing what has been alleged about MJ wearing wires when talking to his coaches, I wouldn't touch that job with a 10 foot pole."Nobody wants to play against Tyler Hansbrough NO BODY!" ~ Frank Vogel

Per Sam Amick on twitter:
In case I confused anyone, I'm told Brian Shaw is definitely interested in the job in Charlotte but the playoffs are the priority right now.

Re: Bobcats eyeing Shaw, Malone.
Regardless of where it is I've thought it was pretty much a given Shaw'd only be a one year rental type guy since the day we recruited him. I'm still pretty stunned Vogel (and Larry and whomever) were able to pull that off, it was a coup.
When he does leave I hope we look at Eric Mussleman filling his spot.Last edited by Heisenberg; 05-07-2012, 08:51 PM.Comment

Re: Bobcats eyeing Shaw, Malone.
Try to put yourself in Shaw's shoes. He's been trying to break through to the head coaching ranks for years. He seemingly got snubbed from the Lakers job and it was pretty apparent he was coming here on a year to year basis while waiting for an opportunity to take a head coaching gig elsewhere. Can't blame the guy for be excited about the first team to show interest in him. Yes the Bobcats would be a black hole of a job but if he at least gets them to be competitive and perhaps even compete for a playoff spot then he will have improved his standing amongst GMs throughout the leqgue as a viable head coaching candidate. If the Bobcats continue to struggle people will just say "well they were the worst team in NBA history. Of course they were gonna lose." Seems like a fairly low risk high reward for Shaw. I wouldn't want him to leave but I would hate even more to hold someone back who deserves a shot.Comment

Re: Bobcats eyeing Shaw, Malone.
At the same time though, Shaw is one of the top assistants around and a high profile guy in his own right. He doesn't have to jump at the Bobcats' job. He can afford to pick and choose, better opportunities will come. For example, as mentioned above, Clippers could be looking for a new head coach soon.Comment

True enough. I'd be surprised if Shaw comes back for another year.

Orlando may be looking for their next coach as soon as tomorrow. While it's a mess down there at the moment, a good off season and a shrink for DH and they could be back near the top.Comment

Re: Bobcats eyeing Shaw, Malone.
Well, I expected him to be a one year rental, but the Bobcats?
Going from the Lakers to the Pacers to the Bobcats in a little over a year's time - that's like falling out of a very tall tree and hitting only one branch on the way down. Not nearly enough to break the momentum of the fall.
For his sake I hope he waits until something better opens up. You know, pretty much anything."Freedom is nothing else but a chance to be better." - Albert Camus
