And I'm not going to lie but one of the things that actually kept me somewhat interested on the Pacers was the constants arguing with UB and Bills, I had to watch the game to make sure that I had an argument to prove them wrong, they said things like changing coaches shouldn't make a big difference, I guess we know who was wrong after all

Thanks UB and Bills for helping me stay a Pacers fan even if I hated your guts somedays

Re: Who amongst us did not survive our five years of hell?

I pretty much dropped the Pacers some point over the last couple years. I still lurked occasionally, but there must have been a year or two where I just didn't follow at all. I was surprised the other week to learn that Luther Head played here at one point, I really had no clue that happened.

There were multiple reasons that I stopped following:
      - I was close to finishing college, didn't have much time
      - I live in Phoenix, no Pacers game were being shown on nat'l tv
      - I was broke from college, couldn't afford League Pass
      - I got wrapped up in some other sports, college football and sports car racing
      - But most important of all: I couldn't stand JOB ball

I was pissed when Carlisle was replaced by JOB, his coaching philosophies sounded terrible to me. I tried to give him a chance, but probably half-way through his first season I was sick of him and quickly lost interest.

Literally the day Vogel replaced JOB is the day I started following regularly again. His enthusiam and his approach were just what I needed to hear. At first I still didn't get to see any games, but I lurked here regularly again and I watched every playoff game last year. Needless to say I was very excited going into this season. With the timely arrival of a roommate who convinced me to get league pass, I can proudly say I've watched more Pacers game this year than probably any other year in my Pacers fandom.

      Its been a great ride!

I was this >< close to never coming back.

I told my ticket person I had had it with JOB and was not renewing after 25 years as a season ticket holder. Then thank goodness they finally fired satan, I renewed the tickets right away and have enjoyed my Pacers again ever since.

The brawl, the shootings, never phased me. JOB was the worst thing ever in my Pacer World.

I remember posting about 5 minutes into Vogel's introduction to the press as the interim coach that it was like a whole new feeling had flooded into the Fieldhouse.

In retrospect, maybe I should have taken the sun coming out from behind the clouds just minutes after Frank took the podium as a sign.......

Even if I did declare the coaching search over the instant he let "Nobody wants to play against Tyler Hansbrough. NOBODY!" loose.

I have been a Pacer's fan since the days of Vern Flemming, Detlef Shrimp, and Pooh. I have a cast signed by all the players back when I was like 9-10 years hold. My mother worked as an usher and security back then for a 2nd job.

Some others I think we lost were Los Angeles and Count55. I still occassionally see Count on here and know he's busy on another site but I haven't seen Los Angeles for at least a year and a half or two years. I always enjoyed both of their commentaries.

Been a pacers fan approximately since the 1988-1989 season (horrible record that season btw) when I was 8 years old, so I have weathered mutliple storms and never walked away. Its safe to say that I'm all in and have been in a for a long time.

You gotta think you were not alone in this. And that, all of them added up, may have made a real impact on TPTB.

Re: Who amongst us did not survive our five years of hell?

I am colombian. I didn't have the chance to see many games in the nineties, but i was a Chris Mullin fan for NBA Live 95. With the trade for Dampier i become a Pacers fan.

I saw the brawl and follow this team besides that. I always thought that Granger was the player that we need to preserve.

I don't post to much, but i like to read Peck and Unclebuck's posts. That gave me an idea of games when i didn't see them.

I'm excited for the playoffs, men.

I see alot of fairweather fans here. You're not a true fan if you don't stick around for when ***** gets rough. Glory Hunters. To be honest i'm quite upset at the amount of people saying they were "this" close to blah blah blah, and i didn't even read that many repsonses. I never once considered bandwagoning another team or not caring about the Pacers anymore. I bought season tickets at 20 years old 2 seasons ago with Jim O'brien going in as head coach and Dunleavy, Solomon Jones, and some other bums on the team. i've been a pacers fan since i was a little boy and once a pacer ALWAYS a pacer. I am not going to lie.. Much of the reason I post on here is because of Shade getting me hooked. He was my PD dealer before I went all forktastic on him.. LOL.

In my experience, I have yet to meet anyone that's described themselves as "a true fan" that was actually worthy of the title...

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.
