I don't necessarily think so. We weren't under the pressure to 'do something, be damned' as at times before. I think Barbosa is a player they liked. Mayo wasn't available; not too much of a drop off from Crawford to Barbosa. I think I MIGHT have liked Nick Young a bit better, but I'm not too certain about that either. I admit, I would have been excited about Ka(ve)man being here, but Amundson/Hansbrough is bringing a 'Davis Boys' toughness tandem to the second unit that I'm really vibing!

frankly it is another move that scares the living ..... out of me.
Why? You wanted to draft somebody with that pick or something? I'm sorry but I don't see a downside here, worried about DJ's,AJ's and Lance's Playing time? bench them all for all I care, Barbosa is better than either one of those guys and he is probably better than Hill and DC also.

Fixed to maximize small ball impact and lack of team play while minimizing offensive effectiveness.

Able hates Bird with a passion... so pretty much anything Bird does is horrible to him. At least that's the sense I've gotten my years here.

We just got Barbosa for a second round draft pick? Anyone who doesn't think this is
a great deal has got to be freakin nuts.

It kinda sorta makes sense if they intend on starting Hill, but if they don't, I can't see any scenario where a Hill/Barbosa bench tandem succeeds.

If you want a pointguard, get one, yes it is that simple, it don't have to be for free,if it improves your team, you can pay a price.
If you want a PF; see above.

    just imagine the defense the second unit is going to produce;

DC (since you all want Hill to start as pg)
    Barbosa
DJ?? if so at least one who plays def
    Tyler
Lou; woohoo another one who plays def.

No matter when you play him, you cant play him at the same time as Tyler, or West, with Roy, since it would take Roy out of the game in foultrouble, neither West nor Tyler are inclined to play help defense, LB is an open door policy, so who can deal with it /

I wasn't sold on the trade, but since it is another in a series of moves that a.)able doesn't like, and b.) has gotten us to 25-16 I love it!

We effectively have 2 George Hill type players and what's wrong with that?

He's an immediate upgrade over Lance, AJ, and Dhantay Jones (albeit DJ is more versatile on defense) so, cut their minutes and give them to him. He's a better slasher and finisher than anyone currently on the team (Paul is getting there but still isn't as good... yet) and although you don't get it right now, you'll soon see that this is a good trade.

When Hill was out, he was sorely missed. Not that Barbosa will be THE ANSWER at shooting guard, but he does upgrade our talent level.

As to the "he's not a point guard", well, if you mean a Tinsley-style point guard, I don't think anyone would argue that he is, so I'm not sure why that gets brought up. He's no more/less of a PG than DC, but he's a better player.
And this was at the time where Lou couldn't catch the ball, not the beast he is today.

We were after Jamaal Crawford during the off-season. A guy who could providing scoring off the bench. Barbosa is a scorer off the bench.

And when all is said and done - it's a freakin' 2nd round pick. Some people just like to be contrary.
Whose saying it is a bad move?

We needed more scoring and shooting. We needed a better bench.

Yes, I would have liked to have gotten a center, but that doesn't mean this was a bad move, either.

He's an efficient scorer in transition. He's not remotely efficient if you give him the ball in the halfcourt and ask him to generate offense. He's ok as a spot shooter, but is george hill going to collapse the defense and get him open?

The guy is fast, but can only run in a straight line. He dribbles so far out in front, it limits his ability to change directions. Everyone in the building knows once he puts his head down, he's only got one option.

He's not the best defender either, but it's not like AJ Price was Gary Payton, either. My issue is offensively, Hill and Barbosa simply do not mesh. Neither guy is a point guard, and there are no wings/bigs on Indiana's bench that can help them facilitate.

Put him alongside Collison, can I can see Barbosa having a niche as a bench gunner. But since that's currently George Hill's role....
