I think we're just a weird, weird city.
Never followed the Colts, but I would guess it would have to do with them winning the SB so recently.

No doubt Indy is a fickle fan base, but I think that is true of many palces.

One weird thing I learned working in entertainment as a intern: a lot of sports teams call games "sell-outs", meaning they "sold" all their tickets, but that does not mean all those people showed up. Weird, but I guess technically they are not wrong

You know BLF is absolutely beautiful and all the neat stuff in the outer concourse is great....but... compared to other arenas are the seats similar in distance from the court?

You get a great view anywhere in BLF.
In 49 states it's just basketball, but this is Indiana!

Scot, no offense and I do appreciate your rah rah attitude for our team, but I really was asking a legit question. Saw my first Pacer game as a kid in the Collesium, had season tickets at MSA, and have always attended somewhere around a 7 to 10 game schedule in Reggies' House.

I've only attended away games in Orlando so I do not know how the seating is at other arenas. It just seems on television many of the arenas have seating closer to the court than BLF. Frankly I miss the temporary bleachers that use to be Legends and of course the main section 1 north entrance is one heck of a big hole that other arenas probably have seats in.

I understand the company boxes are a priority since many teams have went that route for the guaranteed good money. It makes since to me and if that is what is needed to keep our team in Indy then fantastic. However, that may explain why even when BLF had better attendance when first built the crowd just didn't seem to be as loud. Thus are the seats not as close?

I agree with the exception of some of the corner balcony seats where people walking up and down the aisle all night obstructs your view.

Having sat down low many times, I don't know how you could make them much closer than they already are.

Ehh, I'm probably waxing nostalgic here. Just seemed like you could cram a lot of bodies in that lower level bowl at MSA.

I will add this. Without attendance going up I would think the Pacers will probably sit on that cap space to recoup some of their money unless it's a really good player involved.

I think the seats are as good or better than a lot of the arenas I've been to. Lower bowl is as close or closer as anyone. Club is equivalent to most arena's mid-level seats. The seats in the upper deck may be a little farther away because it isn't raked as steeply as a lot of arenas, but the sightlines are a LOT better. The fact that the boxes are split into two levels AND are set way back under the overhang of the next seating level makes a big difference.

The volume level is more due to the design of the building than closeness. The ceiling is differently shaped and higher than the ceiling at MSA was. The bowl design of MSA held noise in, while the open design of BLF makes it spread out. That's why the acoustics at MSA really stunk for concerts and things like that.

Or throw in a first-round pick and flip it for a max-level point guard...

Well no **** sitting in the balcony isn't as great as sitting in the lower level.

I'm just saying, you get what you pay for.

Sitting in the corner not having as great a view is cheaper.

That's why sound guys who can deal with those types of venues make a pretty good living.

The difference between MSA and BLF is like the difference between a CD and a 78 rpm record.
