"Pacers Leader for Kaman?"

I know there's already a Kaman thread, so feel free to merge if this is redundant.

From ESPN Rumor Central:

There was a report Wednesday that the New Orleans Hornets and Houston Rockets have been talking about a trade centering around Chris Kaman.

While the report suggested the Rockets could be the leader for Kaman, My Fox 26 Houston downplayed the discussions.

According to the television station, the two teams have talked, however they are "not close on anything, and the chances of a deal being consummated are low."

According to Jimmy Smith of The Times-Picayune, the Indiana Pacers may actually be the leader to land Kaman and he writes: "A league source said Wednesday night that the Indiana Pacers, one of several other teams reportedly in the mix for Kaman, could, in fact, be the leading candidate for a swap. The Pacers apparently are looking for a backup to Roy Hibbert."

The Pacers currently have $14.27 million in salary cap room and they could absorb Kaman's $14 million cap number without sending a player to the Hornets.

This would be a difference maker, imo. Who would want to play against the Pacers frontline, anyone?

I would take a 7 footer that can score 15 in limited minutes and give NO breathing room to the opposing teams big men. You just got beat up by hibbert.. now let us put in our back up.. oh yeah btw its a allstar as well.

I would much rather have Kaman, Jones, and Stephenson without Hill than Morrow & Admunson.

Then, when Hill gets back... Oh boy, we will be loaded.

I think this is the most realistic improvement for our team that we can attain without giving anything up. I really think that Wilson Chandler will resign with Denver. and we'd have to give up too much to get Deron Williams who likely wouldn't stay here anyhow. Toss them the 2nd rounder we got in the Brandon Rush trade and absorb his salary. Is there really anyone out there that could offer them anything better?

This is just one of those things where it makes too much sense for it to happen so it probably won't so i'm not going to get my hopes up too high.

Kaman as a backup would be a nightmare for opposing teams. Hibbert / West, Kaman / Hans. Best in the league, I'd say!

I can't think of a better line up, as well as Hibbs has played he's also gotten pretty beat up with two twisted ankles and a broken nose etc., Kaman would be just what the Doctor ordered
