There's not any mold, in any way, of any sort that should result in a comparison, likeness, reminiscing of Joe Dumars and Brandon Rush. (I know I just butchered all manner of grammer there) I liked Brandon. Nice jumper, nice d, but Dumars was a stone cold assassin! One of the greats of all time. I don't think you were saying he was the next Dumars, or nothing. But Brandon reminds me of Kareem Rush, with better D.

And that is why I didn't say Brandon was going to be as good as Dumars. It's the progression of their game.

Here's a better comparison for you. Brandon Rush is the yin to Jaron Rush's yang. Jaron could fill up the box score with his offense, but cared little for defense.

I just had a Solomon Jones flashback. Remember how bad he was on the boards? It always looked like he was jumping up and swatting at air. I think Lou has him beat easily on that front.

Frankly, I would rather have Brandon Rush over Lou. At least he would have a defensive role on the team, AND he can score when we hit those long scoring droughts. Depending on how bad we want to develop Stephenson...

Lou is quite better at rebounding than Solo. Not a high hurdle, but he is.

I know it was probably never on the table, but I still really wish we could've gotten Mareese Speights for him. He's been putting up some pretty good outings for Memphis including one against us.

but b/c he didn't meet/fill the FO view of what he needed to be to stay a Pacer. He dropped the ball by not fullfilling the role he was drafted to do to the fullest.

It's for this reason that the Pacers will be outright cutting Danny and Roy tomorrow. I mean sure they are doing okay, but since Larry EXPECTED them to be Jordan and Wilt it's time to cut bait.



You have roles to fill, you try to fill those roles with players being paid the appropriate amount for the role and with players competent in filling those roles.

Certainly you want to draft the best possible player for whichever slot you pick, but in the end that has NOTHING to do with moving a player down the line later.

Rush was a higher pick than Danny and Roy, and would now be filling a lesser role on his way to making lesser money (already was less than Danny). So freaking what?

You need a screwdriver and you have a screwdriver, but you throw it in the trash because you thought you bought a hammer. Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face.

I'm just happy to have all the right tools in the toolbox at the end of the day. Maybe my drafting/buying was up and down, but in the end it worked out pretty good when I got one of everything I needed.




And anyone that says this team hasn't needed a defensive, rebounding 3pt specialist off the bench is crazy. With the addition of Hill they needed what Rush was way more than what some fans wanted him to be (take charge driving to the lane big scorer).

He's been a monster at times. I thought nearly all of PD was on board with noting this development.

I know it's a little d***ish, but I am sincerely surprised and wondering if you just haven't been able to see many games so far. I can understand that.

nor did he play help defense either in the lane or getting back on a fast break.

The guy that had a couple of great chase down blocks the last few years and plenty of help defender blocks...that guy didn't play help defense and didn't get back on breaks?

He wasn't a tenacious "you will not get this floor space" guy, I won't argue that, but he was involved.

On offense he just went and spaced the floor most of the time. I don't know if that was him or the play, but under JOB I certainly have my guesses. For Vogel I don't know, and honestly we didn't get that much of Vogel/Rush time.

Lou is a more physical player and can defend the post a little better. I'm no Josh fan, but even I know Josh is better at just about every other aspect of the game.

BTW, Josh would have completed that dunk and spectacular fashion...

Edit: ...and Josh is a legitimate backup 4. Lou is a 3rd string NBA player. Solo is at your local Mickey D's...

josh does a lot of things, but none of them are PF type skills. lou can defend at the NBA level. that puts him way ahead of josh on any depth chart.
