Re: 2011-12 NBA Random Thoughts Thread VIII: Random Thoughts the 8th I am!

    Here is another one:

    John
With Kaman on the trading block, I don’t see many teams in need of a center that also have the right pieces for a trade. What are the chances that the Indiana Pacers trade a couple of players and use the rest of their cap space to acquire Kaman?

    Jason Fleming
With Hibbert very likely an All-Star I don’t think acquiring Kaman is going to be too high of a priority for the Pacers. Sure, they have the space to absorb him (without any other moves), but I don’t see it as a priority.

    Sabin C
Hi.Otis should call Raptors for Calderon and get him. He’d be a great fit for Magic.I don’t think that Raptors will ask much in return.Your thoughts ?

    Jason Fleming
Why wouldn’t the Raptors ask for much for a point guard who averages 10.5 points, 8.4 assists, and only 1.8 turnovers a game? Calderon would be a nice fit on a lot of teams.

With the talks of Howard and SJax playing with the Nets, Howard may be trying to force the Magic's hand to trade him before the deadline. If not they risk the chance of him taking less money to bolt and play with another star.

Toatally agree. When was the last time a franchise level Player last traded to a Ream in the same Conference? My guess, not recently....

Kawhi Leonard had a great game vs the Grizzlies. Nearly the entire highlight clip was plays he made on both sides of the court. He ended up with 12 pts and 10 rebs while playing lock down defense. Gay ended up with 1 pt in 35 minutes on only 7 shots .

                    LOL at the Magic.

If I were Orlando and just wanted to Maximize what I could get out Howard. You have 2 options.

Send him to LA for Bynum and Gasol. You get 2 quality Big men. I would actually package Gasol some how to Houston for drafts picks. Infact the Lakers should have done this anyways.
Or send him to Chicago for Noah and Deng. I would not take Boozer...
Noah is top defensive Center and rebounder. Deng is top defending SF. Change the culture in Orlando with those 2 guys. Oh and fire Ron Jeremy as well and Promote Ewing to Coach.
You can't get champagne from a garden hose.

I want Howard to stay in Orlando and have them force Howard to accept a lesser amount of money than he could have got with Orlando. Also if he does end up with Chicago I hope the Magic absolutely gut that team take Noah, Boozer, Deng, and some draft picks. They'll still be ridiculous with Howard and Rose nothing like pairing the defensive MVP with the MVP but the less depth that they have I think the better off we'll be.

Has anyone seen these Nike Kobe ads:

                        They are strange, yet hilarious.

NY imploded after trading for Marsh-Melo...is that what the Team that trades for Dwight is looking for?

The Nuggets were smart...they gutted the Knicks and left them with a "bare cover". You'd hope that the Magic does the same to the Nets or the Lakers.

The Magic started out 10-3. They've since lost 6 of their last 8. In those 8 games, they've shot 61-179 from behind the three-point line, for a .341 3P%.

That's pretty much in line, with the league average of .342 for 3P%, this season. The Magic are a .386 3P% team so far, so they've been below their average, but they are losing for a long list of reasons. "Living and dying by the three," is pretty low on that list.

During this 8 game stretch, they've lost to the Spurs, Celtics twice, Hornets, Pacers, and 76ers. Other than the Hornets, who are terrible, all those teams are playoff teams. Just like the Magic would be, if they keep Howard. They've beaten the Pacers and the Lakers. Blaming three-point shooting for their struggles, isn't nearly as accurate as blaming the schedule would be.

It's never good to have a prolonged losing streak, but there is no reason to put the nail in the coffin of the Magic just yet. They would be the 6th seed in the East, if the season ended right now, playing against either the Sixers or the Hawks. We'd get the other one in the 1st round, as the 5th seed. If they keep the team together, they'll be there when it counts.

We'll find out how good the Sixers are in the next two weeks

After Chicago and Miami, the Sixers play Saturday at the Atlanta Hawks. They return home next week for games against the Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers.
