Re: Area 55 2010-11 season thread
Suggestion: Any time the ball is in play but there's no organized chant there should be just a standard noise for everyone to make.
"AHHHHHH" or "OHHHHHH" or something like that doesn't take a lot of voice if everyone is doing it, but it can make a huge difference in the ambiance.BillS
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Or throw in a first-round pick and flip it for a max-level point guard... -

We could try the constant hum thing and see how it goes when Roy isn't in the game.Last edited by IndyHoya; 11-10-2010, 04:54 PM.Comment

Re: Area 55 season thread for 2010-11
I guess I was hoping Area 55 would try to help everyone on the Pacers, when so far it seems very Roy focused. I know he bought the tickets and all, but Squad 6 doesn't only do things for Bogut.
I know you guys have caught a lot of flack so far, and you're all still trying to get on the same page, so I'm really not trying to criticize and feel free to completely ignore this, but I think it would be helpful to make noise all the time.
And research Section 8 of the Chicago Fire, they are the best pro fan section in America.

Like I said I know you guys are getting it from just about every angle right now, and you can get better. I'm not trying to be an a**hole here.
I'm telling you SECTION 8 is the group to emulate. They are awesome. Look up their youtube videos. I've talked with ElPacero about this. They are incredible.
I know soccer fans get away with more, and are generally more passionate as a whole, but there are a lot of chants and things like that to take away.
One of my favorite ones they do is just "We love our Fire!" in kind of a sing-songy way. I think "We love our Pacers!" could be just as good, plus they do a chant where they go "Chi (Chee)-ca-go" and they keep chanting that, it sounds great, and I think you could do something similar with IN-DI-ANALast edited by Trader Joe; 11-10-2010, 05:49 PM.

I didn't say to "yell" the whole game. I just made suggestions of two chants/songs to do while there is silence that needs to be filled, that isn't specifically yelling.

I'm a musician. I've sung in bars, I've done 12 hour gigs on St. Patrick's Day. I have experience. The voice is like any other part of your body, use it right and you'll be fine.
The best advice I can give, and give it over and over, is that you can never drink too much water before and during heavy vocal activity.BillS

Re: Area 55 season thread for 2010-11
That's why I think adding stuff into fill the dead time, and stay interested is key.
Also in Section 8, they have two guys (they usually swap with two new guys at half time) who have their backs to the game, stand on a platform in front of the section, and lead the chants. These guys are freakin' intense I have seen them in person. They are chugging water during breaks and never stop. I really can't even stress how awesome Section 8 is in person, they never quit, and they do a good mix of simple and complex chants that break the monotony of Saying something clap, clap, clap Saying Something again clap, clap, clap.
Different cadences are important too.
