I asked Mike Wells a question about Tyler not playing

After reading Mike tweet that Jim isn't currently playing Tyler because 'he's behind,' I asked Mike what exactly he was behind in.

Mike says it's the offense. According to Wells, Tyler understands the offense when you discuss it with him, but he's not executing it on the floor.

Any thoughts on what that might mean, exactly?

Holding the ball too long? Calling his own number too much?

Means he's not shooting the 3. Posey is.

I dunno, it's all I got. It doesn't make any sense otherwise. He obviously didn't have this problem last year and the offense hasn't changed. Sounds like excuses to me.

It means he gets the ball, turns, crashes into whoever is in front of him and hoists the ball towards the basket.
"man, PG has been really good."

I think it means he just hasn't had enough time on the floor in 5-on-5 situations to have the timing down on the proper speed for making cuts, where teammates are in certain sets, "game speed", etc.

Right now his play on offense may be just too much thinking and not just being instinctual. Same situation with AJ, I'd guess. The only way to solve it is more practice time and play in games, probably when the outcome is not in doubt.

Shouldn't Tyler know the offense form last year?

Maybe he can't see the floor enough to pass out of the post, so he always crashes into his defender and gets fouled. At least he gets to the line a lot.

This is the best description of Tyler's offensive game I have ever seen. With the addition: or settles for a 17 foot shot too early in the possession.

To be fair, I've been watching this offense for THREE years and I don't understand it, either.

That was obvious when you blew the game winner against the Lakers.

                    This is the darkest timeline.

I heard Jim is a little concerned that Tyler's new buzz cut won't provide enough cushioning in case of a blow to the head, so he's holding him out until it grows back.

All I can say is my opinion of Tyler's potential and play is about 180 degrees opposite of O'Brien's but he is the coach. I can flick channels, maybe Tyler can buy popcorn and a coke down on the far, far end of the bench. Looks like we both need to find something else to do to keep us busy.

Knowing the offense and having the timing of the offense and being in sync your teammates are two different things. It's hard to miss that much time and step right back in. Even great players can have trouble with that. Look how awful Dwayne wade looked against the Celtics after missing a few weeks of practice. He was dribbling the ball off his foot, missing layups, making unforced turnovers, etc. The effect is probably magnified tenfold with someone of an inherently lower skill level.

It means JOB is an idiot, I can't believe Bird is pissing around with this clown for so long now.

This team sucks on D and Ty will give you some hustle and at least try to defend someone....

I wish Bird would step down and take this team over. We have some very good young talent.

Last year as a rookie without any time in training camp, or much practice .... this same coach played Tyler 15 minutes a game immediately. He knew, and had played with his teammates even less last year at this point.

                              It still doesn't make sense.
