    Hornets sign Luther Head

Free-agent guard Luther Head is signing with the New Orleans Hornets, according to his agent.

Free-agent guard Luther Head is signing with the New Orleans Hornets, according to his agent.

Chicago-based agent Mark Bartelstein said Saturday that Head has reached an agreement with the Hornets.

Head, 27, will receive a two-year deal worth $2.3 million, with a player option going into the second season.

Head, a 6-foot-3 guard, played 47 games with the Indiana Pacers last season, averaging 7.6 points and 1.5 assists in 17.3 minutes a game.

As a back-up to Marcus Thornton huh?

They have Marcus Thornton, Mo Pete, Peja, Posey, and Julian Wright...and now Luther Head. (Wright is listed as SF/PF).

    Hmm...

Part 1 of 2 as to why we should've given more minutes to Price last season. Head not coming back is now confirmed, just waiting on Watson. Lots of wasted minutes.

Ya, good luck, Luther played well for what he is, I thought. But ya, wasted minutes last year, for sure imawhat.

Mo Pete was traded to the Thunder, on draft day I believe.

I always thought that Luther can do a pretty good job. I am not for sure how he fits in with the Hornets but I do think he will help them.

I liked Luther Head the entire year. Good all around player. Just not great.

Oh that's right, and they attained Pondexter, a wing.

Who cares about Cleveland losing LeBron, we just lost our potential franchise player.

So much for our 3-year plan and future title hopes.

He was fun to watch because he actually had some offensive game from the perimeter that didn't involve chucking 3s.

Plus, his name provided at LEAST 5 chuckles on this forum.

Luther Head played too soft to be an NBA guard. Dwayne Wade made him look like a chump (remember...Head had been Wade's backup at one time) and Luther backed off on ALL isolation plays that Miami put in to take advantage of his match up with Dwayne Wade. Wade beat him down to the point where Luther basically quit playing with intensity and looked to the bench to be substituted. Luther is best suited playing against 2nd or 3rd string talent where his excellent shooting can benefit some team. He'd actually be a good fit talent-wise and financially with the Miami Heat but Pat Riley saw enough of him a couple years ago to know he's way too soft on defense to justify more than 5-8 minutes per game.
