    granger question

I like danny so this is not a thread to bash him. I just don't understand how we can complain about everyone else and continue to give danny a pass.

In the post game threads I have how every thing is troy's fault because he won't defend or josh's fault because he had the worst plus minus.

However nowhere in this thread or any other thread to day do I see even one mention of danny's 30 mins of play and how many rebounds.

Look it up really you will be shocked. This guy gets no blame and he is our best player and how many rebounds was that again in 30 mins. LOOK IT UP.

So i know everyone likes to blame everyone else but really how can this be overlooked by everyone.

Never mind, it was troy's fault for stealing all the the rebounds that danny should have had.

We're changing the identity of our basketball team -- dramatically. We're a power post team -- a blood-and-guts, old-school, smash-mouth team that plays with size, strength, speed and athleticism. We attack the basket. . . . This is the new identity of our team. It was a great effort. I'm very proud of our guys."

    Re: granger question

I've said all season long that with any NBA team you are only as good as your best player. Yeah I think Granger is the most important person in the franchise and his play does need to be looked at very closely. What the franchise decides to do with granger is a hugely important question. But this forum gets weighed down on so many other much less important things.

He gets a pass because of injuries and the personal situation that he is going through with his family at this point. His struggles despite playing while injured and being misused by our coaching staff, coupled with now being totally distracted by personal issues that even O'B says are serious and Danny himself has admitted are even intruding into his thoughts during games make his efforts be appreciated more than they otherwise would be.

His play has, frequently, been detrimental to the team this season, and most realize that. However, when everything is factored in, it is surprising that he has done as well as he has.

Danny is playing like most of us perform at work just before a vacation. He just wants this season to end!!!
Two injuries, horrible record, a locker room that is likely deteriorating (as winning builds chemistry, losing builds miscontent), and likely does not have the greatest faith in our coach. Two yrs ago, after Dun's breakout I think Danny thought we could win enough to be a mid-seed in the East. Two yrs laster we are a 5th seed in the Lottery.

He's pouting, he's emotional (for on/off court reasons), he's not focused, he's likely still not 100% physically, & likely has regressed skill wise from everything he worked on this past off-season (defense, ball-handeling, iso-moves).

Let the season end, call a mulligan, & lets get a top pick, add Tyler :fingers crossed:, & maybe a trade or two, & just start over.

          Re: granger question

He gets a pass because he didn't want JOB as coach, got angry when JOB was extended, got renewed hope when they started winning with a different defensive minded philosophy, then got his hopes dashed again when Murphleavy, politics, stubbornness, cowardice, and money trumped winning.

Danny's cynical right now, and I don't blame him.

I don't give him a free pass, but I learned last season...

there is one topic you just don't want to bring up around here, and that's being critical of Granger.

I've been saying for awhile now Granger was the worst, best player in the NBA. I still fully believe that.

If your only job in the game is to shut down Danny Granger, Ron Artest could do it 9 out 10 times. Artest is like 260 lbs? and built like a tank. Danny is like 230, You aren't going to box out Ron Artest on a rebound.

It's been discussed on here this year.
Coach Vogel on the Chicago crowd in game 4 : "I only heard pacers fans. I didn't see any red, I saw Pacers fans I saw yellow and blue, and I heard Pacers chants. That's all I heard the whole game."

And last year, when the writing was already on the wall, but largely ignored.
